Re: Is the End Times getting you down?

Both settings have always been shades of gray, instead of absolutes. Fantasy was a bit more realistic in that sense. With the End Times, we are now getting the grim dark past. Though I have no issue with that.

Re: harry talks on end times

I am not buying any End of Times books. They are just campaigns my friends and tournament organizers will never use. So just a big waste of money if I got them. We are waiting for the Bretonnians to be released. But then you miss out on that wonderful 290 page book of all fluff! Then again, if you ...

Re: Is the End Times getting you down?

I'm not down about it so far. And if the rumors of the Chaos book having a new Cult of Slaanesh list for DE in it are true, I will be dancing in the streets.

Re: Power of Darkness - does anyone actually use it?

I quite often have it on a sorc in a big unit of Corsairs with a Bloodwrack Shrine. Sure, the extra T from wildform would be nice, but as Dalamar said, Pod is easier to cast and it's usually taken as a replacement for some other spell I didn't want.

Re: Dragon9's Campaign: The Battle for Grand Cathay (1st tur

sadly, I haven't been posting to this. After this game was a 4-way Triumph and Treachery game between my DE, Empire, Demons of Slaanesh, and another Chaos force. I couldn't play in it, so someone filled in for me and he destroyed everyone else, letting them beat each other up and then coming in and ...

Re: Destroyer questions

It's already sequenced in the rules. Step 1) roll to hit. Step 2) roll to wound (if needed). Step 3) Roll armor saves (if needed). Step 4) Roll ward saves (if needed). So with Destroyer, after the hit, you roll the D6 and if 4+ you immediately destroy the item. Then you roll to wound, and if wounded...

Saw a BatRep recently using the new objective system and the game ended 25-22 because of the constant objective changes and had a lot of back and forth points wise.

Re: skaven any fun??

Skaven was the last 7th book, so they'd be a late book for 8th or a carryover to 9th most likely. As for slaves, no, no official models. However the clanrats models have two flavors: armored an dun armored. Me personally, I use the unarmored for slaves and armored for clanrats.

Re: Dragon9's Narrative Campaign: The Battle for Grand Catha

Loreth gazed over the deck railing at the beach head before them. Theyhad slipped the blockade, but they couldn't keep the cloaking spell up for long after they passed. What may prove fortunate for them is the reports from his scouts that say forces of Nurgle had sacked Sumon at the tip of the penin...

Re: skaven any fun??

Yes. Slaves are a must. Skaven work best when they're a horde. (Size, not formation) Slaves are there to tie up units and let your other units hit the flanks, be a roadblock, etc. Quite simply, you need numbers. The more bodies the better.

This true, but a player that controls the movement aspect of the game has a big advantage that can help overcome a weakness in other areas. Just mentioned it as it is an important aspect.

Skaven are my second army. I love them. So I may be a bit biased. I love them for all their crazy contraptions and suicidal tendencies.

Re: Just about to start buying my DE army. A few questions.

Here's the thing. The prevailing theory I've read about Warhammer, and it seems to hold true in my experience, is that you have to be able to own 2 of the 3 aspects of combat, which are melee, shooting, and magic. Usually, the winner of the game is the one that can dominate 2 of those 3. There's a ...

Re: Triple manticore list 2400 (can this work ?)

My only issue with Hellebron on a Manti is that she's a sitting duck. She can't take any magic items for protection, and without the LOS! roll a single cannonball and that's, what, almost 500 points down the drain? I would skip Hellebron in favor of a Dreadlord. She's just too vulnerable.

Re: Incoming 7th Edition

I like the cards. It gets rid of the scramble to gain objectives at the last second. Well, you can still do that in normal scenarios, but in the scenarios that use the cards, you'll have to actually take objectives before the last round of the game.

Well, I haven't had that first game yet. It'll be 1500 points as a beach landing, and I get an extra 1000 points in reserve. So basically 2500 DE vs. 1500 Cathayan Troops. Hoping to get the game in this weekend.

Re: Dragon9's Narrative Campaign: The Battle for Grand Catha

SO the gist of the campaign is: an agent of Chaos has infiltrated the Dragon Emperor's household as his closest adviser and betrayed him, putting into a magical coma. He has returned to the Red Mansion and cast out the influence of Khorne in favor of Tzeentch, renaming the Mansion the Palace of Eyes...

Dragon9's Campaign: The Battle for Grand Cathay (1st turn)

Someone at my local GW started a narrative campaign. I thought, what better than to start a thread in the BatRep forum to annoy everyo... I mean entertain everyone with what goes on. Basically, there's players each representing the armies except for Demons, WoC, and Beastmen who are GM lackeys. We h...

^^This. Only way she has protection is in a cauldron unit where she gets the 5+ ward. Otherwise, all it takes is a decent character directing attacks against her and she goes down very, very easily.
