I think you either have to keep all the pieces and fence removable if you plan to move units through it, or else just count the entire thing as a building or impassable terrain piece.

In my experience, a Hydra can't handle a Hellpit Abomination, unless you're talking about lucky dice. The HPA has higher Initiative, meaning that the Hydra can and will take wounds before it gets chance to use that breath weapon, and by then the breath weapon will be needing 6s to wound. This is ass...

I'm a huge advocate of Cold One Knights, but I wouldn't suggest multiple units of them. For Cold One Knights to be maximally effective, they need the support of a number of different resources: Magic, Cauldron of Blood, and a magic banner. When you take multiple units, you start to dilute those reso...

8th edition has really made the Pegasus an appealing choice in many respects. The Pegasus can join another unit, in which case it gains protection from ballistic skill-based shooting, and only becomes more vulnerable to template-type weaponry like cannons and stone throwers. Alternately, the Pegasus...

Welcome back, and thanks for a good read. Did your characters have additional magic items on them as well? I noticed they weren't listed in your battle report. Did your Grave Guard have hand weapon/shield, or great weapons? To answer some of your questions: - is he allowed more than one dispel scrol...

Mindrazor on any Dark Elf unit is outstanding. If you have enough Shades to be certain the second rank also gets to attack, and if the Shades have dual hand weapons, then you're going to do some significant damage. The only problem I see is that Shades will rarely overcome Steadfast, and the enemy w...

I have a very hard time fitting a dedicated Ring of Hotek pegasus character into my Storm of Magic lists. Well, how badly do you need Corsair models? How many Shades do you plan to use? If you're not using all your Corsairs, and expect to be using lots of Shades, then it's probably a good idea to take models that aren't useful and recycle them for your current lists. I'm not quite sure how good the Cors...

Not crazy at all... It would be excellent to see the Cold Ones achieve more than their riders. A brutal predatory dinosaur should certainly do more than a miserable lousy Strength 4 hit at low Weapon Skill, and they don't even get the benefit of Hatred like they did last edition.

It would be fun to see COK as monstrous cavalry, but I doubt it would happen. There are existing COK, available in plastic, and GW doesn't seem that inclined to replace existing plastic kits no matter how old they are (look at our warriors, HE spearmen, Orc Boyz/Goblins, Tomb King warriors/archers.)...

I think the Level 2 will consistently perform better for you. There are a few circumstances where an Assassin is useful, but magic superiority is always important. A Level 2 support caster is also an opportunity to work in a specialized magic lore to help the rest of your list. Metal (for anti-caval...

I think that 5 is too few for pretty much any game of Fantasy about 500 points!

My 2500 point list has:

-General
-BSB
-3 Core banners (2x Spears, 1x xbowmen)
-2 Special banners (Cold One Knights, Black Guard)

My 3k list would probably have at least one more banner, if not two.

Don't be pessimistic, you might surprise yourself here. Your array of available models is good, so you should be able to put together something strong. The only downside I see is a lack of elite infantry, but given how expensive they are, it's understandable. I would definitely include the following...

I'm in Southern California, and I can't say I have much interest in Lore of Death, and it doesn't strike me as being popular around here. I like the idea of the two Shade units quite a bit. I've usually gone very shooting-light in 8th edition, but may switch things up for a change of pace. I normally play 2500 point games, and am thinking of trying two units of 10 Shades and 20 crossbowmen. Do you feel that they're universally useful ...

Your champion with his Crimson death costs 39 points extra! thats almost a harpy squad And then a Bloodthirster kills 10 rank-and-file Black Guard because you had noone to issue a challenge with. That's more than two Harpy squads! There's definitely something t...

Could someone post exactly where it specifies you have to occupy a fulcrum to cast a spell? Wood Elves are an extreme example, and use a playstyle that's unlike anything any other army utilizes. Not only will this hamper t...

They're T3. Repeater Crossbows are the answer. March up a unit of 30 or so and pincushion them. Use Harpies, Shades and Dark Riders to divert their fire and give your more valuable stuff cover. Move + long range + Skirmishers + Waywatchers + multiple shots = 8+ to hit with most repeater crossbow un...
