Re: Most beneficial ruleset for Wood Elves

Wood Elves are a tough army to play, even after the release of the 2014 army book. But typically the problem with any army coming across as weak lies not with the rules, but rather with the player understanding HOW that army plays best. If your friend is feeling willing, he might benefit from readin...

Re: New DE armybook RULES analysis

Yes, by "battle" they mean "game".

Combat between units is typically referred to by GW in its rulebooks as "melee" and "close combat" but never AFAIK "battle".

Re: DE vs WOC 2500P 8th

Fun game. Your list looks very tailored to taking on WoC (e.g. the executioners and witchstar) - was that a deliberate choice from knowing who/what you were going to be facing or just happy good fortune? Dark Elves can do anything well but can't do everything well. In my experience, melee oriented d...

Re: Eighth Edition Army - All Comers

I'm happy to have been of help and am glad that the advice may be useful going forwards. Welcome back to the game! I sadly don't get to play these days really - different phase of life and all - but I went through a similar transition back in 2009 when I picked up the game again after a 15 year or s...

Re: Eighth Edition Army - All Comers

8th edition had a lot more bulk and staying power built into the game. Gone were the days of expensive elites ruling the battlefield: new rules such as steadfast and stepping up put staid to that. As a result, your army looks too fragile to me. You have no real bulk (blocks of infantry) and the cava...

I hadn't heard of Game Crafter before, but it looks intriguing. What has been your experience with using it? Pros and cons?

Why are you including prizes from Mierce Miniatures? That's the company owned by Rob Lane, who royally screwed over huge numbers of hobbyists by taking orders from them when his company was about to go bankcrupt (and indeed, encouraging large volumes of said purchases by offering massive sales on mi...

Nothing - it's all gone, blown up, kaput. Yeah.

Assuming you are talking about pre-Age of Sigmar, it might be helpful to know what you need the information for? The proximity to the chaos wastes gives you quite a lot of license to just dump down what you want there, but it depends on what you need.

Kings of War - Twilight Elves

Hi folks, I'm going to be doing some stuff with Kings of War's Twilight Kin soon. I just looked at their army list and wanted to check whether I had the equivalencies right for my models. Anyone with knowledge of KoW can confirm or correct? - Spearmen (Warriors with Spears) - Crossbowmen (RxBs) - Bu...

Re: 8th: Hydra or Kharibdyss vs Treeman?

Both will struggle with a treeman - but the K Beast would probably do better given its monster killing properties. To some extent though, I would consider the broader goals of the model. A hydra has a lot of versatility and I would give more thought to what your overall battle strategy is rather tha...

Re: would you play with a man. and his 3d printer army?

Wargaming was always about wanting to have a simulated battle between two friends. Supporting tools like scenery, miniatures, cards, rules, etc, were always means to an end and could and should be items that could be substituted. Would you shun a player who used ebay models because they purchased th...

Wait... are you based in Spain or the UK? Very unclear. Probably a good idea to be upfront about that as if it's the former and you're claiming to be based in the latter, you may get some unhappy campers.

Re: Xenophon's Anabasis As A Free Audiobook

I've had mixed to bad experiences with listening to Librivox recordings. What is the quality of this one like? Do the readers make the effort to vary their tones depending on the content of the reading and to use different voices for different people, or is it just one long and monotonous reading? T...
