Re: Advice on starting new army

TK armies can win tournaments if the list and player is good. How would you take on a list of several sphinxes, a hierophant, casket, death snipers, archers and mounted archers? It can be really painful and difficult to take on such a list. I do agree though, if you start with TK, you will be at a d...

Re: Shades vs. Waywatchers

I find it funny that people think that you can claim to be the best player in the world without having to do battle against the top players of the biggest and best events (whether it's ETC or not). Based on the results I've had in chess the last year against friends and family, I'll claim to be the ...

Re: Shades vs. Waywatchers

I am saying that the only way to figure out whether you are one of the best players is to play against them, and you will find most of the best players at the biggest and best tournaments. The ETC tournament is probably the closest to a Warhammer World Championship we have. You might be a good playe...

Re: Shades vs. Waywatchers

There are several things that makes the ETC players to be some of the best in the world: - They are usually the top players in their country, based on tournament results (also those tournaments without ETC restrictions) - Those who join ETC tournaments tend to also go to other tournaments abroad, an...

Re: Dark rider bus possible?

Dark riders bus works nicely... it is of course somewhat worse than the warlocks, but you get a bigger body count (if you want that), which gives you more survivability for your heroes/lord(s). In some cases it might even be better than the warlocks bus. Especially in lists with few pts. you might w...

I don't really mind restrictions anymore compared to what I did a few years ago. Everyone gets their biggest cheese nerfed and people have to figure out new things to field... it makes the game more interesting imo.

Re: Vampire Counts. And How to Deal with them.

What do you tend to field most? I go for the screaming lists mostly, although it's less than optimal in tournaments as I haven't made 20000000 zombies yet (well, going for just 200 at first ). I like to mix things up though and don't go for the optimalization all the time... So, I tend to try out a...

No, please do not ask how many assassins could be hidden in a unit made of a single DH or sorceress... and don't even try to imagine where they would hide. http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m1860019a_99070212001_DarkElfSorceress03_445x319.jpg http://www.games-workshop.com/MED...

Re: Vampire Counts. And How to Deal with them.

Nice writeup of the units. Having the VC as my second army, I'd like to give a bit of info about the 3 most usual lists which are the strongest I've played with and seen in tournaments... and what I think are the pros and cons to those. The Knight bus Almost always a unit of Black Knights with extra...

Re: How to face against WE with cauldron?

I actually find the cannon chariots easier to destroy. I'm thinking off the top of my head but aren't both Ogre and Demon chariots T5 and 4W? Compared to regular cannon's T7 and 3W I will gladly face the more expensive moving cannon as they are far easier to take down from a distance (and sure, har...

If you could become "evil" by that then what about the people who play wargames that involve WW2? Are anyone playing the germans evil? Or what if you play battlefield 1942 and you fly around in your Stuka, are you now evil? How do you think Hitler became how he became! Tin soldiers! Serio...

Re: Exploring our potential: The Shadestar

You can create a shadestar by joining all the characters to the 20 GW shades, but you can also move out, if they are hit too hard. I think we need to go down this general route if we plan on bring a large GW shade unit. Exactly. The new book means that you can have the characters more loosely coupl...

Re: Help me build my drow army.

I've thought about converting my own army to be more like a drow one... the Cold one Knights aren't really that far off the drow, except that the drow tend to have some sort of lizards they ride on (who move on four legs and can climb walls and ceilings quite well). I would've just used the cold one...

Re: Exploring our potential: The Shadestar

Well hold on, you're assuming you will have complete control of the battlefield and choice of who the shadestar fights. It doesn't usually work that way when you're facing a cheap horde army stretching from edge to edge. You'll either be put on defensive or you will be forced to engage what's avail...

Re: Exploring our potential: The Shadestar

Nice to see that people work on the good old Shadestar list with the new book! I have to admit that I am a bit sceptical about the idea in general. I think death lore is the right way to go Falstaff, with such a list that have mobility and can easily snipe down monsters/chariots and the like. These ...

Re: What can an elf do against 6 Chaos Chariots?

Yes, some armies will deal with it better than us for sure, and that is also the reason we don't see only these kinda armies too often in tournaments (although I think it's mostly the restrictions). With so many units like that, there might not be enough cannons to take care of them before they get ...

Re: What can an elf do against 6 Chaos Chariots?

Death sniping, RBTs, counter charge with heroes, doombolts from warlocks... of course, if he adds all those invulnerable characters as well as 2 skullcrusher units, chimeras/goretusk chariots... there will be too many targets. Anyways, you should keep back so he has to spend all his movement over a ...

Re: Rumours about GW in 2014 - not good ones

The way I see it, the problem with GW is that they are a company with a bit of a specialized product. Sure, miniature gaming is fun and great, but it's not for everyone, and they've kept getting stores all over the world. The expenses for keeping these shops must be quite high, and the initial effec...

Re: Your Experiences from using Dark Magic?

Dark Magic is a decent lore... maybe more so when we get +1 to our cast on it. Whether you should use it or not depends on what kind of list you have. Do you have enough elite killers in your army (Super characters, Cold one Knights, Executioners, RBT and such), Dark Magic might work really well. If...

Re: Best setup for an Executioner horde

The problem with the new version of the Executioners though, is that they don't have hatred, which means that you will do less wounds unless you get frenzy. Also, you can't get a 5+ ward anymore, so the new Executioners horde is less powerful than the previous edition in one way... however, you can ...

Re: New ETC-FAQ (including new Dark Elves)

ETC rules forces different approaches than the standard usage of powerbuilds. That's the very reason I find ETC tournaments to be a nice change of pace and means you have to take a different approach to achieve your victories. This doesn't mean that there won't be powerbuilds, it just means you get ...

Re: Should I try an assassin against a nurgle DP?

Assassin isn't the way to go to kill a Nurgle DP imo.

So many points to be able to deal a wound or two and then get smacked down in the return attacks. Death sniping (which is less good against DP) and RBT are much more reliable ways... and of course those characters you already build for your army.

Re: Ethereal speed bumps (sprit hosts) and no magic weapons.

Use doombolt or find a way to get a magic weapon in! There are VC players who use Hexwraiths (3x10), together with deathsniping or just lots of vampiric lore vampires/necromancers... If you can't deal with a few spirit hosts, those lists may dismantle you quickly. I would suggest having tooling a bi...

A shade bunker and even shade star is a valid option... it worked in the past and it'll work again if you play it out right. Dreaded 13th will kill all infantry units quick enough, especially as our units cost too much to field as big bunkers anyways. I too prefer the warlocks as bunker, or even hav...
