For advice I think the best for now is just paint more models. Like everything else, do it again and again. Naturally you will evolve as time goes by

Still working on making enough dwarven terrain to set a table. Here is piece #2 in work. Idea is to make it some sort of outpost, a sort of upgrade to the mine entrance.
