If you have a look at the sprues on GW, I think you'll find that the hair is a separate part, and can be used or left out for either variant.

Re: on request, pics of new release

@Layne: If I want my xbowmen to be sighting down his crossbow i have to cut off a warrior head and re-align it. Same deal with the left (shield) arms or most of the witch elves. There are definitely tons of awesome bits. But as far as how customizable the minis are out of the box, apart from weapon...

Re: New Stuff Review

Yeah, same here. It's such a huge difference. I'd rather muss out on the Kharybdiss' S7 and have T6. T5 makes for terrible RBT and Sisters of Avelorn fodder. Doubly so since Harpies go to special, as seems to be the case. I expect it will hinge on what Dark Riders and Warlocks are capable of, and p...

Re: on request, pics of new release

I'm not excited about this. I mean, I can't even have my warriors face another direction. WTF? [snip]I wonder if this is GW's answer to the bits market, "Suck it guys! We just won't make any bits!" Tis a shame You can realign them on the base. Also ; Witch Elves 6.7 bits per model, Warrio...

Re: New Stuff Review

And you made me take another look at the Cauldron, and now I finally understand the purpose of these chains, so thanks for that, but the question remains - why doesn't it break apart once 10 or so people start tearing at its sides. Its internal static looks non-existant. Yeah, it's fantasy, but pla...

Re: New Stuff Review

There are chains and bars by which the cauldron could be moved. The Kharibdyss is certainly something new and exciting. Of course the beastmaster works like a circus animal handler. Were you hoping he'd work like an electrician? Trouble with witches, and we always knew they would have this problem, ...

The Khainite deal is non-specific as to whether or not a plastic Sorceress is included. If it is, then it's the same price as individually.

New Stuff Review

Morning all, Dark Elves are up for preorder on GW Australia, and probably New Zealand too. I've had a good look at everything, and while I was doubtful over the last week or so, I'd like to state my feelings on the new ranges right here and now. First, the big kits : Cauldron / Shrine : this is a no...

Re: DRUCHII.NET RAGING HEROES PAINTING COMPETITION - Masters

Just in response to Cal and Cult O'Khaine... I don't much like the colours either but I was following a path set for me by the designers of the video game character this is based on. It was a damned tricky job trying to match the original and then it ended up looking naff anyway. I think what went w...

Re: Return of Rickie (Paint Blog)

Hard to tell from the photo, but I'm guessing the cure for your pink/purple problem is that the wash should be more red. I expect your turquoise needs a lighter basecoat before your wash. I think that where you truly need a thinner wash is on the white, and that it could be a little less blue. It is...

Hi dnetters. It may interest you all to know that I have some new news on this fine log too. All work in progress, just so you know. Pavise crossbowmen still getting along. Bits, bobs and bases to go. http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj61/Arn_Khraidour/mirabowspip2.jpg And pikes, with the first su...

Re: Dark Elf Army - A year has passed

Wash doesn't work on large surfaces very well, you're right, but you can use glazes. Whether or not you use actual GW Glazes or not is up to you. So far I haven't used them or regretted not doing so. Maybe when I do I'll wish I always had, as often happens. If you use feathered strokes parallel to t...

I've had nothing but joy from Royal Mail here in Australia, what with things arriving sooner from Nottingham than Narrabri. Serves you right for leaving the Commonwealth.

Re: Dark Elf Army - A year has passed

The only thing that's "wrong" here is that it's best to take pictures on a white background, which helps us to see what your model really looks like. Your paintwork has indeed improved very quickly ; it's probably beyond me to teach you anything new.

Good work ^

If it's too light you can always wash it again. If it's too light you can always wash it again. If it's too light you can always wash it again. I recommend the use of washes. I simply can't recommend it highly enough. You rely too heavily on drybrushing, which can give passable but results but will ...

Re: KreoL army painting blog (add corrsairs 29.08.2013)

Very good work. Metal looks good, though you may want to add a bit of contrast to it. I think the faces look a little too red, and the hair looks a little too white. Also, the blending on the purple and the leather is a bit rough. That is, it looks great and you should smash the Raging Heroes compet...

Phierlihy is almost correct. I do this . It sounds like you're suggesting there are people who dust without an undercoat. I would never have believed it. As per GeOrc's thread, I undercoat fully with black and then dust over that with white. Black for some reason always gives a smoother undercoat th...
