Well, my crowd is expanding. Mainly people who played years back, who are now finding time to play once again. The rules have nothing to do with it, but 8th is much appreciated Then again these people doesn't care much for rules or competitiveness, its all about having fun, playing with cool models ...

I agree that even though the initial reaction of 8th has been the death of MSU, I still find the concept useful. IMO what 8th did was to give purpose to the large blocks that look good on the table, but not at the cost of the small ones I like to run my armies around the underestimated Dark Riders a...

I think you should dump the heralds from the Dark Riders - unless you have some obscure reason for getting them? Then spend left over points on getting 3x5 shades with AHW instead of one big unit. Warriors have no business going for horde formation. Only units with 5+ strength really benefit from th...

Is a T5, 3+ ward, stubborn chaos lord cheesy? Is a VHS WAlter cheesy? is a T5, 1+ rerollable AS, 4+ ward, stubborn dwarf lord cheesy? . None of those combos are from one specific item , they rely on a combination of items that cost a lot more than 35pts. And so does the PoK. When I started out play...

Is a T5, 3+ ward, stubborn chaos lord cheesy? Is a VHS WAlter cheesy? is a T5, 1+ rerollable AS, 4+ ward, stubborn dwarf lord cheesy? etc. etc. etc. Most armies have some rather nasty character builds, but as the game has gotten less dependant on characters in 8th, I can't say that they're game brea...

Beyond that, you should never argue for things, you very well know, go against the general principles in the rules. These arguments drain the game of fun, and its much more gratifying to win from actual tactics instead of some random rules loophole :)

Yup. You really don't want to go there. You'll end with a game that is all about studying rulebooks and loopholes instead of epic fantasy battles. A minimum unit width would hamper the game just as much. Imagine a unit walking between two rivers of lava, constantly losing 20% of their numbers, becau...

I like to field 2x5 with RXBs and musicians, combined with shades they quickly add pressure where I need it. I find them much more useful than just another regiment of warriors :)

In my games, there rarely is more than one successfully cast spell per magic phase, so combining spells is hardly an issue, its more the decision of what spell to go for. Should be said that my most regular opponent is the empire army with their gazillion dispel dies :p That said, I find Shadow to h...

Well then. I guess you're just playing 'ordinairy' 2K'ish games then. My recommendations would then be to just bulk up on troops and skimp out on characters. You should easily be able to outnumber him 2:1 and more, which should be enough to win you the game - its a game of battle between armies, so ...

Why not?

Include it in your fluff if you find it fun, you're degenerate homicidal elf after all, there is no reason not to mess with warpstone. But I guess most sorceress prefer using virgin sacrifices instead to fuel their magic - if only for the theatrical effect :)

Tyrion is easy to counter. He lost a lot of survivability in 8th, and the boy only has 4 attacks - so the damage he can cause is limited. KB + The other tricksters shard, and he is as good as done. Teclis - seems like a good target for Shadowblade. But basically you just need to make contact with th...

What do you do that makes you happy?

Does this involve any skills that you'd be able to employ professionally?

Also what kind of people do you like to surround yourself with? Academics, craftsmen, creatives, etc.

And ultimately, what would you like to end up doing?

Yup, no reason to use a dreadlord for hunting skirmishers, 3 units of shades could do the same job and more, while providing better general support to an army.

Shades can accomplish a lot for very few points. Lots of shots at high BS, quite a few attacks (with AHW) at high WS, supported by either Shadow or Cauldron for hard hitting effects. At 85 points a 5 man unit is easily expendable. Don't expect them to accomplish much on their own, but buffed up they...

I usually base my models, and paint base and models together.

And I wouldn't dream of priming my models by brush, touch up on sloppy priming perhaps, but doing 100+ models by hand is just a waste of time that could be spent painting/modelling.
