You can free up some points by dropping the DR unit to 9 (giving you two ranks of five) as your 'mobile bunker.' The Black Dragon Egg on the SS is also largely useless as only in the worst of scenarios should that unit be getting into close combat. You may be interesting in using those points toward...

I haven't faced one recently, but how are Skaven Abominations faring nowadays?

Good luck with that. Most Empire players tend to stay away from GW's generic halberd/spear arms (which rank up horribly) in favor of other manufacturers.

It does seem to be a wholly optional supplement to WFB. Even as an Empire player, though, I would not purchase that, at that insane price, just for some new rules. If I want to use a model, I can just integrate it into my current army using the standard rules we already have. Even past that; I can't...

I know some people will instantly cringe when they see Felheart there; for his points, you get a character who slowly weakens his own abilities over the course of a close combat. And a question; what role will your handbow corsairs play? They are a bit small to be set up to receive charges, and not ...

What ever happened to... The Guiding Eye

One item that I found was dropped off at the onset of 8th edition was the Guiding Eye. Recalling 7th edition as best I can, a standard combo was a sorceress with the Guiding Eye in a group of 16-20 crossbows, which would lead to a very effective turn of shooting. So what has changed? As someone who ...

Or Skull Knights (and aptly modeled).

I think Cold One Knights fits them well. Simple, obvious, but just enough symbolism to make them spooky.

Well it depends on what you mean by going "shooting heavy." Is it two units of 2 crossbows? Crossbows and twin bolt throwers? Several units of 15-man shades? My first instinct would be that a nice, semi-elite WoC army would work with any of the above. You take your shots in the opening tur...

Don't feel like you are getting flac for taking metal; we all have our opinions on what is good, efficient, or optimal, and getting those messages across makes us all better players. I, for one, see myself properly testing out metal lore very soon. As for those bolt throwers...200 points makes a nic...

I believe he was talking about the reliability of metal over shadow concerning melee.

I, for one, am a shadow caster through and through. I tend to play a shooting-heavy army, and shadow plays its role very well in that context.

I will admit I am tempted by that breakdown of metal, though.

All of this is under the assumption you are looking for a chariot pulled by the new cold ones; You can still find the "fat" cold ones (my personal preference, actually) online.

Beginning to work on a timeline. Slowly but surely. All dates use the Imperial Calendar for ease of reference. The Dark Elves themselves reckon the passing of years from the founding of Naggaron (IC -2722). So, to calculate dates using the Druchii system, simply add 2723 years to the Imperial date. ...

That is something GW has done multiple times in the past, and while I wouldn't call it a problem, it is certainly an annoyance. I can't really give you an answer as to why this occurs, other than that perhaps they ran out of time with all the content they push out. But looking on the bright side; mo...

I have been playing my unit of shades more and more often lately. I used to run a small unit of 6, and also tried out the super 15-man unit, and have found that 8-10 is a nice balance. Anything less feels less influential in the shooting phase, and anything more tends to play like a flimsy, expensiv...

Nowadays, it seems that Skaven are the army to beat, so I don't see much of a problem tailoring a list against them. If you want to include the assassin in the list, which isn't a horrible idea (to help tear through skaven slaves), I would combine two of your crossbow units into a single unit of 20....

I run 2 units of 20 for most of my games that are 1500+ points. I vouch that some of their strength comes from coupling their shooting with shadow magic, and it can be devastating. But I also believe that some of their ability comes from the fact that each unit is a decent shot and still can hold th...

CoKs (especially in that set of 10) are amazing. I used to run them plain (no command or characters) and they were average at best, but they really started to shine once full command and the ASF banner were added. Point for point, I think the CoKs best a dragon 9 out of 10 times.
