Re: Dealing with fast hard hitters

@ tehnico: Good job! But it is another example why I consider such forces hard to crack. I think that your opponent could have basically either bunkered in a corner hoping for a drawish result or raced right towards your big points (if you had some), trying to break through before you encircle him. ...

Re: 9th Age: Executioners or Black guards?

Or you can try both! One more option would be to try a big horde of execs together with some small units of tower guard. While execs in back ranks bring as much to the fight as the front rank, the TG back rank only has half the damage output of the front rank (because you can only do one supporting ...

Re: 9th Age: Executioners or Black guards?

This is a very complicated question. - Execs are very good against armour and high toughness (S6). TG are decent against armour (S4 AP) but bad against T6 (wounding on 6s). - TG are very good against numerous enemies (2A each). Execs are not bad but being 1A, they might have trouble carving through ...

Re: Bloodstorm.nl Mini 2016 practice log

Thank you for the nice report! (and sorry for coming so late - but better late than never I guess ) I have just one small comment regarding tactics. Turn 2, it was absolutely sure the dancers reach combat with bruisers but the spearmen had a long way to go. While it ended well, it was a situation th...

Re: Dealing with fast hard hitters

Well, it's not as bad as it was before but you can field this for example: WDG, 2500 points 50 barbarians, flails: 350 some horsemen and hounds to fill core maybe a small unit of fallen 3x wasteland chariot of lust: 3x 115 6 once-chosen of wrath, FCG, swiftness, halberd: 328 5 crusher knights: 395 e...

Dealing with fast hard hitters

This is quite a complicated issue I have in mind but let us hope I will get it through. Imagine you are facing a fast and aggressive force. Not a deathstar but a collection of units that are strong, durable and fast. A classic WDG army comes in mind: chimeras, chariots, mounted heroes, skullcrushers...

Re: 2K pts. vs. Dwarves, The 9th Age

Thanks for the report and good job! Just one rules comment. By the -1 Ld spell, do you mean the attribute? That is cast and dispelled together with the original spell - if I understand it correctly that your death magic hex was dispelled, the attribute should have not been in effect. And maybe one s...

Re: 9th Age v .99 feedback

If you guys could bring up more arguments about how to change the 1% which would make DE more playable, please tell me quickly. Not sure if this observation is generally valid but it seems we might be somewhat lacking in things that are fast and dangerous at the same time. To be more precise, I hav...

Re: Lost colony in 9th age - rematch vs. Dwarfs

I have often seen units of 5 silver helms as chaff. Giving them a banner is hardly an auto-choice but it could help with blood and glory and having +1 to combat res might be nice as well from time to time. If you have spare points in core you have no better use for...

Re: Lost colony in 9th age - rematch vs. Dwarfs

You can have two wounds, charge and banner as far as I know. Not that I would understand why a fast cavalry unit would carry a banner. :) But silver helms could for example. Plus there is a light magic buff that adds +2 to combat resolution. :D

Re: Lost colony in 9th age - written tournament reports

We have the weakest book of them all of course. Truth is, we have to seek some new tricks. Or at least I have. I was used to field three pegasus riders in a competitive setting who would have solved quite a few of my problems here (hellcannon, chariots of any kind, rear-charging a necromancer bunker...

Re: Lost colony in 9th age - written tournament reports

Ogr Cupp Caradax 2015 This has traditionally been one of the biggest tournaments in the Czech Republic. This year, as the transition from WHFB is still not complete and many players are still seeking their way, the attendance was low - only 18 players for 9th Age, together wih some events for Warma...

Page 58, left column, Pursuit into a new enemy, third paragraph, not counting the bold one. And yes, pursuing into a new enemy and fighting twice is very powerful. You can arrange it by, for example, charging your Big Nasty Unit in a first enemy and dark riders in a second enemy, in the same charge ...

Re: 9th Age Army books link

@ jeffman: Assassin poisons can't be combined with magic weapons, sadly. The assassin looks quite good even so, though.

@Cultofkhaine: There is an entire Background and Art team working on this so evenually, there should be both fluff and artwork. Not sure what is their schedule though.

Re: 9th Battlelog

I know it's getting old but how are you going to handle armour? I suggest to at least give your shadow stalkers GWs - they will still strike at the same time as most other elves and if not, you have lore of light on your side. However, there should be new armybooks out *really* soon (tomorrow if all...

Does this mean that a master with the midnight cloak has no benefit from armour and is thus capped at armour save 4+ or so? This would make him extremely fragile in any combat.

Lost colony vs. Entombed Dynasties - 2400 points, 9th Age This is the first game I had under the full 9th age rules so I hope there were not too many rules mistakes. I am not the guy organizing this but the ideal development would be this, as far as I understand what the leaders want: First, a team will be put together. Ideally, each member should be willing to write about more races than just one though it should be possible to respect personal interests to a l...
