Beastmasters Scourge and Dagger of Hotek

Post by Da'ghault »

Can you take Beastmaster's Scourge together with the Dagger of Hotek in order to gain an additional attack and armour piercing with alla attacks.

If this is not possible then Beastmaster's Scourge seems like rather pointless choice excepts for fluff reasons.

The dagger can indeed be combined with mundane weapons, for example the beastmaster's scourge. This would give the model one additional attack and all attacks would be magical and armour piercing.

The dagger explicitly says you can combine it with a mundane handweapon. In the description for the Bm scourge, it says it is a hand weapon. Hence the two can be combined. This has been asked several times already.

Then I assume the magical scourge (can't remember the name) will gain the hand weapon shield bonus in close combat.

Together with enchanted shield(heavy armour and cloak) it will create a guy on foot with S5, AP and 1+ save.

Whip of Agony may gain Parry Bonus but not the +1A for additional Hand Weapon
Dagger of Hotek may gain Parry Bonus & +1A for Addition Hand Weapon.

You cannot gain the parry bonus with a magic weapon.

Yes you can, if it is a hand weapon. Some magic weapons are, for example the Whip of Agony. Sword of Might isn't.

How would the Dagger of Hotek gain a Parry bonus? You can't use both it and a shield at the same time in combat.

Dagger of Hotek is an 'Additional Hand Weapon' however such a weapon entry doesn't exist, what it means is your character has

Hand Weapon(Mundane), Hand Weapon(Dagger of Hotek), Shield

All you have to do is select Dagger of Hotek and Shield as your equipment for the fight.

The part of the FAQ that says a magic weapon doesnt give parry bonus is because 99% of all 1handed magic weapons are -not- Hand Weapons per the rules.

Well, it says it may be combined with a "mundane hand weapon", nothing about shields of any types.
