Mounts and Hatred

Post by Bounce »

As we all know Mounts benefit from Hatred if their riders have it. However I was wondering if in combat the rider is killed before the mount gets to attack does the mount still get it's hatred?
i.e My Peggi Master charges into a unit of High Elves who butcher the master with ASF. The Pegasus survives their attacks but doesn't have hatred itself so does that mean it can't re roll even though it hated the high elves until a few seconds ago?

DE Rule Book, rule on Hatred - Last sentence.

Remember that Hatred also applies to mounts as long as their riders are alive.

Technically speaking since your Rider died already, your mount do not benefit from the Hatred rule.

Fluff-wise, your faithful mount goes into a rage seeing his master dies. Hence, the mount still retain his Hatred rule and gain Frenzy. However, the mount have to take a stupidity test as his master is not there to control him.
Just joking....

If the master dies, the pegasus must immediately test on its own unmodified Leadership (it cannot use the General's). If the test is failed, it must roll on the monster reaction table.

This is all done at the moment the rider dies.

If you do not roll Frenzy/Hatred, then you lost Hatred.
