They have to be new models. They talk about Lokhir and so on. They must be new. Iron Talons are mine. Keep your hands away from them!

which clever designer decided "i know what the DE need. a Sorceress on cold one, and some new shields. No, they don't need a new malekith model, or some plastic harpies, shields are definitely something they need"

Well, more squid shields can only be a good thing. The more squid the better really.

Yeah, I like the squid-icon too :)
But not as much as the evil eye on one of the knights' shields...I currently try to paint the eye by hand on each shield (quite a lot of work)

My harpies are Skinks who have greenstuffed wings instead of arms and slight modifications brought about with a modelling knife. Cheap enough for about 20 of 'em :D

Now, plastic Dark Riders on the other hand...

Dark Riders formed out of Glade-riders and DE-warriors are quite a good option I think. Costs are 36 pounds for 8 conversed dark-riders, compared to 56 pounds of 8 standard-dark-riders...and you get a lot of bitz-stuff too, this way :)

The new shields look great, and I can not wait to get my hands on some or more.
But I would like to see a new Malekith model, as well as the other special characers.
And I would not boo hiss, about some plastic Daek Rider ever.
But it is good to see more stuff coming our way.
I hope they just keep it up.

Actually I need shields :P

But I would probably be more exited about harpies or DR though ;)
But this is still better then nothing! It's better that they take time to make something small, rather then not making anything at all...

The shields are simple DE warrior shields. The heraldries are from something called 'Bitz Packs'... haven't heard of these before. Perhaps that's what the new shields refer to?

Just looks like new heraldries to me, not actual shields.

Well, as Borog said, it is better that they produce something then nothing at all, though I don't need new shields as I've my own the design (freehand). And who knoiws, they might re do Malekith and the Dark Riders some day.

I don't udnerstand why. The current shileds looks nice.

and I seriously can't agree on the squid thing. Squid is FTL in my opinion.

That being said, I don't like the new corsair models :P
Then again I have 36 good old metal ones :)

Why would we want new metal shields!? Can't GW give us something useful like a decent lord on foot? maybe even a BSB?! (yes I am obsessed with this at the minute)

Replacing good stuff because you think you can make it a bit better is pointless when the army is actually missing a key model/s.

I use to have 2 battle standard bearers until I dissected one. I then used the bits to mount one.

I really like the squidy one altough i'm rather annoyed that they are metal and seeing as they just rose the price of metal things its a real bummer for me :(

I certainly agree that new shields might not exactly be the most urgent "new release" for DE, but I can't stop thinking that some of the designs, especially the dragon design, is pretty cool!

If you buy them, they come in 3 sets of 4 (or 5, I don't remember). Hence if you need 20 with the same icon you'll need to buy 5 sets and not 2. This sucks, since I only want those with the kraken

The White Dwarf note I remember said they will come 10 for $10 and you choose which design you want. I kinda like the Kraken one myself.

not only will they be expensive an extra $20 or whatever on top of the price of a warrior box (or 2 if wanting x20), but wont easily attach to the model like the plastic shields would. they will be a heavy part of the model which means if you have to handle the minis a lot you have more chance of breakage. and bugger pinning them it would take ages. i would personally buy 1 set of each and mould and make just the symbols out of plaster and throw them onto plastic shields. yes they look cool but at $1 each (more for some other countries like us in OZ) no way!!! not practical enough for me
