How does this combo work (Corsairs + Frenzy)
I'm thinking a unit of 14 or 21... 7 wide. I'll probably throw in a champion, for the heck of it.
I was mildly tempted to throw in a BSB with hydra banner, but that might be overkill... if mildly amusing to try it once.
Opponents probably don't always associate corsairs with frenzy, but with the 7 wide I might be revealing my hand slightly. Though the extra 3 attacks (with hatred)... that can make a difference.
I'm willing to go wider and lose a rank to get the extra two corsairs attacks as I figure with 6 attacks and hatred I can make up for that one pip in combat resolution.
Does this unit work rather well, or does it just look good on paper? I'm hoping with the dragon cloaks that they will draw some ranged shots as they can absorb them better than say... Warriors or Black Guard.

Its a fairly common use of corsairs with 2hw. Downside is that they are only strength 3 so their ability to wound is limited. Witches trade armour for the poison attacks and being inherently frenzied. This lets you add the AP banner which makes them more effective against higher toughness units. Hag with M adds again with up to S-6 attacks against high toughness opponents.
22 attacks on a 7 frontage with KB from the cauldron is a useful combo versus Brets, WoC and dwarves, as well as some empire lists. Lack of ASF might hurt bad though.

This set up for corsairs seems to be staple for us corsair users. Personally I use one unit of 14 with the SSS banner like you planned, with a champion to take challenges.
Depending on what I want I may take one of the following to go in the unit with them:
Asssassin with Manbane +ROK (for High Toughness)
Death Hag BSB with Banner of Murder (because its useful), /w Manbane+RoK
Either of those or I just run a cauldron to pump out the KB blow attacks because 22 KB attacks from a 7 wide unit just scares the hell out of most opponents.
Be sure to have a unit of RHB corsairs/ harpies to babysit them to stop them being pulled away by fast cav. Preferably the rhb corsairs they'll make fliers and fast cav regret coming close.

The big advantage of corsairs over witches, in my personal opinion, is the fact the Corsairs have an armor save. So they can get shot at or have magic missiles thrown at them and be able to save some.
Plus it frees a special slot... which for my theme, might not be a bad thing.
I'm still torn on the Cauldron. Not sure if I want to field that in general or not. Currently my lists don't have it... simply becuase I can't see them lugging that thing in Lustria...
but I could come up with a cool Lustria themed conversion... more to buff the Cold One Knights though... but they could make those Corsairs deadlier with either Killing Blow or +1 A.
Here I was just thinking the Frenzy banner on them might be fun... but wow... you can really make them spit out attacks between cauldron and hydra banner!

Yes, I do look like Loki. That is me in my avatar.
Yea the COB was tricky for including it in my corsair army however I came up with an idea about a 'counts as' COB which stems from a form of Khaine Worship to do with Sea Dragons.
Perhaps your army could have captured an ancient Old One relic that has the ability to sorcerously enhance your troops? I mean you are in Lustria to raid, perhaps you got some badass magic artefact that helps you out?

Not that I'm familiar with the model, but maybe the Engine of the Gods would give you some good parts to work with. Since it's lizardmen, that would fit Lustria well. Then all you have to do is park the Khaine statue behind it so he looms over to watch the sacrificing.
Course the idea could be bogus, I'm not sure what the Engine looks like in detail.

The only luck I've had with this unit is 7 wide, in the middle of the line, push them forward. Don't bother w/ these guys v orks, ogres, Chaos-Warrior-Heavy chaos, deamons ... even against high elves with Speed of Asurman, they tend to get cut down before they strike. Really, they're designed to go against Empire - the additional save verus range is good, and emp is only T3.
