Transport case for Dark Elf army

Post by Jofus2004 »

I am looking to buy a transport case for my army and was looking for some opinions. Basically I am trying to decide between Army Transport and Battle Foam. I like Army Transport's foam plucking because it seems it would offer more protection for models like executioners that have odd things poking out of the normal space a mini would occupy. Looking at Battle Foam's website it looks like they only have pre-cut spaces like GW's case for standard infantry or cavalry models.

Some opinions on the two different cases from those that have used on or the other are welcomed and also some pictures of Dark Elves loaded in either case would be nice too.

Thank You

This isn't really what you are asking but I'll toss my 2 cents in.

I have been playing for 10+ years and after that long, you start looking for more convenient modes of transportation. Provided you arent flying I have an idea for you.

I recently bought a large plastic container with a lockable lid, glued some steel sheets on the bottom and magnetized all my troops to their movement trays and then the movement trays to the case. Much easier to get my army out and no real worry about breaking models as they won't budge without some serious punishment. I can post some pics if you are interested.

I have seen that too at my FLGS. Not only do they stay safe but everything is already in the trays before the games starts which is nice. The guy at my store has another bin inside that one that sits about halfway down and fits snug against the side doubling his storage area.

wow this is a very good idea, but i do have a question for this.
how do you make layers on that box? (layer of troop on top of the one on the bottom)
If you can post some picture it will nice.

I'll take some quick pics tomorrow. I havent used layers because my case is quite large but I'm sure you could build some shelves quite easily. I would make them out of some light wood with 4 posts screwed in. Then magnet the bottom of the posts and youd be good to go.

Another option is "egg crate" foam -- the stuff used to line gun cases, guitar cases, etc. I just lay my executioners down between two layers and they do just fine.

I think that was the old school citadel case Dyvim - use to be half the size of the current smallest GW ones though: I think thats a pretty good idea. Here's one: link

All my cases are the Sabol Army Transport for my VC and Skaven which can carry all my VC and most of my Skaven except for the Bell, HPA and the new WLCs which I usually just figure something out with.

I've seen people use gun cases for their models, but usually for character models, stuff they want to bring to the store to paint or for other games like warmachine and malfeus.

I've seen people using the Motorpool case and magnetizing their stuff to the base and putting in the bag like that with enough room to put another tray right next to it on bottom, throw some foam over them and then get 2-4 more trays in I believe.

Ya my apologies. Totally forgot about this thread. Got a tournament tomorrow so I'll snap some pictures of it!

Hi.

I'm happy with the line of Feldherr.com
The foam trays have a convenient size for some bags&cases I found in other (cheaper) stores.
Anyway I'd recommond to magnetize, as Azure did. You'll save helluvalot time for starting a game. Beware of loose magnets, though.
