How do you Dress up Your COB

Post by Mogwai »

Without getting too specific on your army lists. As a standard practice , how do you on average gear your Cauldron Of Blood? BSB , Magic Banner , Gifts Of Khain?

Thank you in advance .

Generally I go with the BSB upgrade and nothing else. 25 points the typical point cost for a combat-oriented Gift of Khaine) can buy a lot in a Dark Elf list, and spending those on the Cauldron crew doesn't seem optimal to me. I have magic users and unit champions who could be benefiting from those points instead, especially since my Cauldron has only ever been in combat twice in all the 8th edition games I've used it.
There is no escape from Chaos. It marks us all.

BSB, nothing else. It's been in combat only 3 or 4 times out of the almost one hundred games I've played in 8th edition, it doesn't need anything else.

I do the same. My friend used to run it with the Banner of Nagarythe as it stacked with his Warbanner unit of spears and the +D3 CR banner on his CoK.

Maybe in a huge points game it *might* be worth the investment, but even then, not really.

BSB with banner of Swiftness. If I have some points to spare it gets rune of khaine or touch of death.

I often give it a pink frilly dress, many items that have been bedazzled, and just a BSB upgrade

Just BSB, but I must say I'm curious as to how effective the Banner of Nagarythe would be in a huge points game. Could be fun to try. :)

Less than 2200pts I like the COB-BSB with hand of Khaine gift.

Between 2200 and 2500pts, the flying BSB on DP with HG cloak and ring of Hotek. THis item is underestimated in 8th but it still rocks as our foes do not expect it.

Above 2500, definitely the hydra banner in large COK unit with ASF. I do necessary to send them in close combat asap to avoid sniping spells.

I always play 3K or bigger and I only make it the BSB.

Manbane could come in handy but I never see mine in combat, Thats why I call him the Cauldron of Shame
(because he is always on the run :D avoiding enemies)

Really? People I play against try to pick on mine... I think it irritates them a bit ;P

But people usually underestimate quite how hard it hits. Even with no gifts, it still packs one hell of a punch. Had mine take out a Vargulf last weekend. Oh how I lol'd at him. I still wouldn't bother spending points on gifts tho. BSB only, although I do like the above idea of giving it the increased movement banner.

yeah just bsb any war machine hunters can't take it and anything else shouldn't reach it. mine already has a unit of swordmasters (10) a slightly wounded warsphinx and allot of small things on its list. it usually dies from the pit of shades a dwellers or something like that
or the poisioned shots from gutter runners
