Depends on the rest of your army.

I generally like the Whip of Agony (esp. in combination with Standard of Hag Graef).

Ring of Hotek, as said above, is another favorite.

Dawnstone can also be nice.

Ring of Hotek on that guy is an awesome idea! Not to derail the topic but does it mean irresistible force as well or is it just a miscast and I can still attempt to dispel and such?

it causes a miscast, but no irrisistable force
and its on every casting attemt not on every succesfull casting attemt like teclis or book of hoeth

so if he double 1's with 2 dice or doesn't get his needed value or you dispel it, as long as there's a double, its a miscast

some rage might ensue when you inform your opponent in the double 1 example though, no more magic and a miscast is quite nasty

Potion of Foolhardiness is a good use of 5 points.

on topic, i like to run my ring on something more mobile and less dedicated to combat. the whip is a good choice, if you are running the banner of hag greaf, considering soulrender, with dragonbane gem and ironcurse icon

he gets st 6 (with ap) attacks at I 6 every round, but loses his reroll to hit after the firsts, makes your unit somewhat more resistance to warmachines. (but lately those seem to be becoming more and more integrated in other unit types (steam tank soulgrinder, tomb kings bone giant, arachnarok, the ogres their cannon thing)

and he has a 2+ save against flaming attacks. hilarity ensues when you run a hydra next to it, and makes him hard to get rid of if your units depleted, to conserve points.

I can't see some an offensive item being worth it much since its only a one wound model except for some of the 5 point items. I'd say ironcurse icon might be the best choice, just in case you get hit by something when you're not buffed by the cauldron.

Well I use a combo of items on my champ if there not being used other places

The luck stone
Potion of full hardiness
Charmed shield

This makes the camp a destructive character in challenges plus if you have a loane charge and he except the challenge blow off the first enemies hit can possibly save one on the Luck Stone and then livs if not he only dies by 1 or two wounds its also grate for stoping a red fury vamp.

Well I would ask my self do I really want to spend point's on a Coldone champ?
With the Magic item his point cost goes up insanely. And he still has only one wound.

27 regular CoK
16 upgrade to champ
25 form magic item's
69 Total

So if your list needs a champion with magic weapon's, and it will add to your list, then go for it, but for most cases it's better to add some chaff, or find a more efficient use for those point's.

i'd like to note that adding a magical weapon, something offensive, is great if you face vampires with ethereals. with shadowlore having no magical attack augments
