Did FedEx Screw Anyone Else Out of Their Pre-Order?

Post by Dragon9 »

[rant on] Seriously? So I got an email from GW with tracking info for FedEx on my pre-order package. I know I couldn't make it in today (well, I guess technically yesterday seeing as it's 1:23 am) to get my stuff because of other things going on, but I thought I would look at the tracking info and fantasize... They fracking tried to deliver it to the GW store at 7:33 am!! Now they say they'll try again on Monday, but of course the store is closed on Monday and Tuesday. So now I have to wait for Wednesday and hope they don't try to deliver it before 1 fracking pm! I mean how stupid is the delivery driver? They couldn't look at the sign and see they aren't open until noon on Saturday and come back later? Augh! [rant off]

So, did FedEx screw anyone else over?

Here it is I-don't-know-which-company since it seems to be serious business to ship the ltd. edition to Germany beforehand so they can *actually* deliver stuff on launch day and not *start* to deliver the frigging thing basically a week too late.

Im in the same boat as trax. I ordered my CE book the moment it went up on the site, my book didnt ship until yesterday. Meanwhile SEVERAL of my friends had their books before release day because theirs got shipped early, so by giving GW my money directly and paying extra for a slip cover and ribbon, I get to wait an extra week for my book. Thats the last time I bother preordering anything from GW

Yep. I'd have had my book last Wednesday if I didn't bother with Limited Edition.

Oh well, at least the book is shiny!

I'm still waiting for my pre order to arrive. It's not even LE. Am pretty dark about it to be honest. I'm tempted to just demand a refund and keep my 7th ed book. I only play against friends and never tournament or GWstores anyway.

Not sure if it's the delivery companies fault or GW, considering it wasn't dispatched until Friday just gone. :(

Yeah, mine was shipped out on the 3rd via FedEx ground with Saturday delivery. So it's definitely FedEx's fault.

Even worse; i had my shopkeeper save a copy for me until saturday-afternoon. Only to find out that he had sold it anyway to someone who was willing to buy a lot of things if my shopkeeper would sell him the book. Now i have to wait till next delivery, and hope the magic cards are not sold out yet.

Yeah, that all goes along with the "you should have placed an advance order on it!"-policy that I've seen a lot of people use in stores. Some people are just concerned on the "here and now"-principle, as technically they can't be 100% sure you'll come around to collect and pay for the reserved item. However, a spoken agreement is also technically a binding contract, so you should have had your book waiting at the store... I can only imagine what you felt at that point :?

Jeez, really sorry to hear that guys. Being in the shipping/receiving biz I pretty much understand the pain you guys are feeling by getting your stuff late rather then on time. I too ordered the limited edition but I always make sure mine is shipped to my local store for pick up, since doing that I've never had an issue getting my stuff on time. Just a suggestion for those who have the option of having a local GW store close enough to avoid those companies that consistently fail in their on time delivery duties (I'm looking right at you FedEx and Canpar).

FedEx attempted delivery yesterday but my wife was out... now I have to go to the post office (weird) to get it tommorrow  . Ah well, at least I'll have it in time for a 2 hr flight to Florida Wednesday - wish I was going somewhere farther so I'd have more time to read it.

My "local" store is 45 minutes away, so I chose to have it shipped to my house. I pre-ordered within an hour of being abke to do so. fedex sent it from lexington to mississippi to cinci and now its going to indy. I might get my book by Wednesday. The bad thing is I am hosting a mini-gamesday on Wednesday with the intention of already having a couple days to read and learn the new book. Arg!

I live 1 hour from the Tenn. border ( in Georgia ).
Book shipped on Friday the 4th.
Fed Ex tracking says it will arrive Thurs. the 10th.

5 days to move the book 1 hour away ( not counting Sunday ).

Day 3 of torture. Still no book in sight. Don't even have a tracking option like I'm some kind of Empire peasant.

I can track mine but no estimated delivery... fedex location here is right next to ups one though and since I'm going to pick something up from ups I will stop by.
They left for my location at 3am this morning. They better be here by now.

This is the spiel on the GW page about pre orders. Had I read this and not believed the whole
" pre orders will be delivered to you on the day of release" I would not still be waiting.

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/conte ... eMode=true

Seriously, why even bother getting a pre order delivered to your house, it's quicker to go to the store. My book was apparently sent from Sydney on Friday, the day before release, as opposed to having it at the GW store ready for me on Saturday, the day of release, to pick up.

I hope I get my book soon :(

Yeah, apparently I should have let them send my copy to the local GW store, still can't get my head around their delivery times, though, I'm feeling like I live somewhere in the middle of the desert, here.
