Beta campaign report

Post by Loflar »

I decided to use dark elves in campaign again, this time in beta version, complemented by Combat Movement skill and availability of the Shade Scout Hired sword. And with Frail but Fey.

1) Wyrdstone Hunt with Witch Hunters
==============================

Noble pan Prošek: sword, RXB, SDC
Lordling Vilém: sword, RXB
Lordling Jan: sword, RXB
Sorceress Barunka: sword, RXB, Black Blade of Khaine
Beastmistress Adélka: sword, beastlash, RXB
Dogs Sultán & Tyrl

Rating: 99

My plan was to shoot some dogs, and, if neccessary, sacrifice my dogs. This did not work. After I tried some shooting, Vilém was charged by two dogs and pan Prošek was unhided by the other dogs.

Then my dogs charged a flagellant and took him OOA thanks to Take Down. Adélka charged a witch hunter and was taken OOA. Jan charged a dog and took him OOA. Barunka tried to helm Vilém with a spell, but failed.

Then the rest of witch hunter charged and pan Prošek, Vilém and Jan went OOA as well. Barunka ordered dogs to retreat.

Results:
pan Prošek: wounded hand (-1WS)
Vilém: multiple injuries (-1WS, -1BS, hates witch hunters, survived against odds), +1S
Jan: recovered OK, got Counter Attack
Adélka: captured, recovered for 30 gc (WH player felt generous)

Barunka found one shard, after paying ransom I had 10 gc, so I bought a helmet for pan Prošek.

What to say? Bad start.

2) Writitng on the Wall against Kislev
==============================

Noble pan Prošek: sword, RXB, SDC, helmet, -1WS
Lordling Vilém: sword, RXB, -1WS, -1BS, hates Witch Hunters, +1S
Lordling Jan: sword, RXB, Counter Attack
Sorceress Barunka: sword, RXB, Black Blade of Khaine
Beastmistress Adélka: sword, beastlash, RXB
Dogs Sultán & Tyrl

Rating: 106

Opposition: Kislev with bear, halfcook and roadwarden on a horse.

We both planned tu get to the wall and defend entrances. Unfortunately, Kislevites were faster, having a bear and mounted roadwarden. They got to both street entrances. In shooting phase, Kislevite strelec stunned Adélka's canine shield and roadwarden shot Adélka OOA.

In my turn, dogs succumbed to stupidity, so the roadwarden was charged by pan Prošek and Barunka instead. Fortunately, with help of dark magic, Barunka got him OOA. Jan, already shooting at the bear for second turn, managed to knock him down. Vilém waited (mistake on my side).

Then Kislevites charged pan Prošek and Barunka. Fortunately some of them were too far. They knocked my heroes down but were not able to take them OOA. Kislevite strelec stunned Jan.

In my turn, I still could not retreat, so one of dogs overcame stupidity and charged the captain to protect Barunka. And managed to stun him. Vilém charged some Kislevite to help pan Prošek, but was stunned.

I took about two or three next turns, during which my heroes were lying down and standing up again, Barunka sent Essaul and Youngblood OOA, and Vilém and my less stupid dog went OOA as well. Jan was also shot OOA. Then pan Prošek, lying again, signaled for a retreat. But not before Kislevite bear tamer, who is allegedly partially literate (having already learned letters A, D, K, O and V), deciphered the writing.

Results:
Jan: dead.
Barunka: got a lot of experience, so now she has +2WS.
Adélka: captured again. This time I exchanged her for two Kislev heroes captured by Barunka.
Tyrl: dead.

My remaining heroes found two shards, which, sold for 55 gc, allowed me to buy a new lordling with sword. The RXB is, however, gone, so he will get it from some BS3 hero, probably Vilém.

Nice reports as everytime, Loflar.

I seems that our warband has to start with full heros and lots of rxb...
How is your overall experience of the Dogs? They seem very valuable to hunt down the combat specialists of the enemy. (I think here of negating the effect of that vampire roaming our tables from time to time)

Maybe we can start a small campaign, too. I'd like to have them in action!

Actually, dogs and WEs are the best killers, heroes coming far behind them. At least in our last campaign, where I played Alpha 3.5.

I think that starting with lots of RXB's is the only way to have them available later. For 40 gc, they are more expensive then some henchmen. But I am often criticized that I am spending too much on luxuries (swords, SDC, beastlash) instead on henchmen.

3) Occupation against Strigoi
==============================

Noble pan Prošek: sword, RXB, SDC, helmet, -1WS
Lordling Vilém: sword, -1WS, -1BS, hates Witch Hunters, +1S
Lordling Jan: sword, RXB
Sorceress Barunka: sword, RXB, +2WS, Black Blade of Khaine
Beastmistress Adélka: sword, beastlash, RXB
Dog Sultán

Rating: 106

Opposition: Our Strigoi warband is based on standard Undead, but has a charnel guard instead of one of the dregs, the vampire is +1A, hating everything and able to purchase some additional skills (e.g. bat form). This one also had lightning reflexes. The warband had about 15 members.

I only hoped that I will be able to retreat soon.

My shooting was ineffective (I only manage to stun some two creatures). Then vampire charged my dog and took him OOA.
He was charged by Adélka and Vilém. Barunka failed to cast a spell on Vilém's sword. Both Vilém and Adélka overcame their fear. Vilém, having higher I, attacked first and caused one wound. Then vampire took Adélka OOA.

Vilém was charged by two undead and taken OOA.

Then I retreated. Adélka died and her dog escaped. The three remaining heroes found 3 shards and sold them for 70 gc. This could allow me to get a new beastmaster with axe and a dog, but I would still be weaker then before, with no visible chance to make things better. I decided to restart the warband.

4) If it is not locked, take it against Sisters of Sigmar
========================================

Noble pan Prošek: sword, RXB, SDC
Lordling Vilém: sword, RXB
Lordling Jan: sword, RXB
Beastmistress Adélka: sword, beastlash, RXB
1 Shade: sword, RXB
Dogs Sultán & Tyrl

Rating: 87

I decided to try to start without sorceress, replacing her with a henchman with a better BS and ability to advance.

"If it's not locked, take it" is our scenario, similar to Wyrdstone hunt. However, wyrdstone shards are replaced by 6 chests of unknown content. After battle we roll for content of each chest held.

Opposition: Nuns, mostly armed with hammers, slings, and whips, and halfcook, rating about 140.

With this scenario I had to move, which went a bit against my original plan - to use my longer range and shoot nuns. So we were hunting the chests. Pan Prošek managed to take one nun OOA with a lucky shot.

Then one nun managed to stun Vilém by a sling shot, and to protect him, I had to charge. Pan Prošek charged a novice(?) and Jan charged some heroic sister. Contrary to what I expected, pan Prošek was taken OOA and Jan stunned. Then, in next turn, Vilém and Jan were taken OOA, so Adélka declared a retreat.

Fortunately, all three heroes survived without problems. Adélka retained one chest, containing a lucky charm, and found one shard of wyrdstone. So I got 35 gc. Not enough for a new sorceress, but I hope I will get her after next game. I bought a helmet for pan Prošek.

On a more positive side, I got a lot of experience. Vilém learned Infiltrate, Jan, being Frail but Fey, now has +1W, and Adélka is an Expert Swordswoman... or swordself... whatever. My shade got +1A.

5) Protect the marketplace against Dwarves
========================================

Noble pan Prošek: sword, RXB, SDC, helmet, lucky charm
Lordling Vilém: sword, RXB, Infiltrate
Lordling Jan: sword, RXB, W2
Beastmistress Adélka: sword, beastlash, RXB, Expert Swordsman
Kašpar (Shade): sword, RXB, A2
Dogs Sultán & Tyrl

Rating: 99

Opposition: A lot of dwarves, halfcook, Tilean marksman, Arabian merchant, Trollslayer, rating 219.

Protect the marketplace is our scenario. In the middle of table, there are some shops. Defender protects them, and gets money for every shop saved. Attacker gets (smaller amount of) money and experience for destroying them.

I knew that I can not win, so I decided to sacrifice dogs. Vilém infiltrated so he could attack their weaker members. Other stayed hidden among shops. Dwarves came, I tried some shooting, with no success. Vilém shot at halfcook and did not wound. Dogs charged some beardlings, nothing happened.

Halfcook shot back. Critical hit, Vilém OOA. Dwarves charged dogs. One went OOA, the other valiantly stayed.

Next turn, I retreated, with money for all the shops untouched. Vilém survived with chest wound, which he, being frail but fey, ignored, dog died. Kašpar got talent.

With a lot of money and experience, I got a new dog, a sorceress and a new shade.

Pan Prošek learned Fey Quickness, Vilém has BS 5, Jan has I 7, Adélka learned Combat Master, Kašpar is Master of Poisons (I gave him special and academic abilities).

6) Breakthrough against Posessed
========================================

Noble pan Prošek: sword, RXB, SDC, helmet, lucky charm
Lordling Vilém: sword, RXB with poison, Infiltrate, BS5
Lordling Jan: sword, RXB, W2, I7
Sorceress Barunka, sword, Witchflight
Beastmistress Adélka: sword, beastlash, RXB, Expert Swordsman, Combat Master
Heroic Shade Kašpar: sword, RXB, A2, master of Poisons
Another shade: Axe, RXB
Dogs Sultán & Tyrl

Rating: 141

Opposition: Magister, 2 posessed (T5, resilient), 2 mutants, 2 brethren, 3 cows.

I was not thinking very well that evening, and results show that...

Vilém infiltrated behind the posessed line to try to shoot some weaker member, preferably magister. I forgot that enemy starts 14" from my models, deployed the other models like for skirmish and after two turns, I was in a situation when I had to charge or be charged.

At that time, Vilém was lying aside a tower, where he fell after being stunned by magister's spell, being approached by a mutant, brother and magister.

Adélka, Sultán and the new shade charged one of posessed. Tyrl was to afraid to do it, which proved wise ;-) Jan and Kašpar charged two cows. Pan Prošek retreated, shooting at the other posessed, while Barunka moved forward in an attempt to fly to help Vilém. The spell failed. So did the shooting. Jan and Kašpar took one wound from one of the cows, and they wounded Jan. The group, attacking the posessed did not wound. In this and following turn, they were all massacred.

Barunka was charged and knocked down by the other posessed.

I retreated.

Sultán and my new shade died. Adélka suffered multiple wound, resulting in her stats being reduced to M3 I4. Just my usual bad luck.

Pan Prošek advanced to I7 and Kašpar learned Wyrdstone Hunter.

Rest of my heroes found 4 shards. I sold three of them and bought a new dog and witch elf with an axe.

7) Watchtower against Bretonnians
========================================

Noble pan Prošek: darksteel sword, RXB, SDC, helmet, toughened leathers, lucky charm
Lordling Vilém: sword, RXB, helmet, toughened leathers, Infiltrate, BS5
Lordling Jan: sword, RXB, toughened leathers, W2, I7
Sorceress Barunka, poisoned sword, Witchflight
Beastmistress Adélka: sword, beastlash, RXB, Expert Swordsman, Combat Master
Heroic Shade Kašpar: poisoned sword, RXB, A2, master of Poisons
Witch Elf Viktorka: Axe
Dogs Sultán & Tyrl

Rating: 147

Opposition: 12 Bretonians, 2 warhorses, halfcook, tilean marksman, arabian merchant, goblin trapper

Watchtower is a scenario from Fanatic Online, Goblin Trapper is one of our hired swords. You can read about him at http://valdora.oddiloko.org/dokumenty/postavy/ .

I put pan Prošek on the tower with Viktorka and Kašpar behind walls before it. Vilém infiltrated to bretonnian flank to unhide them. Rest of heroes went to walk the dogs.

I was mostly relying on SDC of my noble and low bretonnian BS. The biggest threat was provided by the tilean marksman. Twice he hit pan Prošek, who was twice saved by his fey quickness. Vilém stayed on bretonnian flank and shot the arabian merchant OOA. Viktorka and Kašpar were hiding behind the walls.

A lone bowman went forward to unhide Kašpar, with two knights on horses ready behind him for coutercharge. After the shooting, pan Prošek finally lit the fire. At that time, Bretonnians were separated in two groups. One contained two knights and two archers (including that one far ahead), the other the rest. I decided to attack the smaller group.

Vilém and Viktorka moved forward to attack the large group next turn. Jan and two dogs charged one knight with Adélka hobbling behind them. Kašpar charged the bowman and Barunka used witchflight to charge him as well. The group of three only managed to "knock down" the knight, i.e. he did not fight back this turn. Thanks to lucky 6 to hit of the last dog attacking. About Barunka and Kašpar... Of course, when two elven heroes, one with A2, both with WS3 and S4 (poison) attack a bowman with WS3, A2, S3, it can be expected that one of the heroes goes OOA and the other is stunned...

In Bretonnian turn, my group of three was charged by the other knight and tilean marksman, while Adélka was charged by a bowman. Two dogs and Jan went OOA (I forgot that he is W2) and Adélka was stunned.

So I retreated. One of dogs died. Jan is M4, Kašpar will miss next game because of arm wound and Barunka is hardened. The positive side is that I got 3xp just for participation, so everyone advanced. Pan Prošek is now BS5, Vilém learned Counter Attack, Jan is WS5, Barunka learned Doombolt, Adélka learned Sprint, Kašpar learned Infiltration and Viktorka is Ld9.

I fount 2 shards, so I selled three. I did not replace the dog and bought a new witch elf instead. And sword. And helmet for Jan.

VIII) Protecting marketplace against Kislev
========================================

Noble pan Prošek: sword, RXB, SDC, helmet, toughened leathers, lucky charm, BS5
Lordling Vilém: sword, RXB, helmet, toughened leathers, Infiltrate, BS5, Counter Attack
Lordling Jan: darksteel sword, RXB, toughened leathers, W2, I7, WS5
Sorceress Barunka, poisoned sword, Witchflight, Doombolt
Beastmistress Adélka: sword, beastlash, RXB, Expert Swordsman, Combat Master, Sprint
Heroic Shade Kašpar: poisoned sword, RXB, A2, master of Poisons, Wyrdstone Hunter, Infiltrate
Witch Elf Viktorka: Axe, Ld9
Witch Elf Kristla: Sword
Dog Sultán

Rating: 170

Protecting marketplace is a scenario with marketplace in the middle of the table. Attacker gets XP for every kiosk destroyed, while defender gets money for every kiosk not destroyed.

Kašpar stayed home because of pain in his hand where he was hit by bretonnian bowman.

Kislev outnumbered me roughly by 2:1, so my chances were not exactly high...

Vilém infiltrated to Kislev flank, others were hidden on a marketplace. Kislev in first turn unhided Barunka, and with heavy shooting, knocked her down.

In my turn Kristla with Adélka charged nearby bear, dog charged a Kislevite standing behind a bear. Barunka failed to cast Doombolt, everyone else shot, hitting no one. Dog took his Kislevite out, while Adélka and Viktorka did not wound the bear, and both of them were stunned by the experience...

In Kislev turn, bear and his tamer charged pan Prošek, youngblood charged Kristla, and five other Kislevites charged Adélka and her dog. One man charged Vilém. Pan Prošek, Kristla, dog and Vilém went OOA, but all the five chargers were needed to get the dog, leaving Adélka unattended, and the Kislevite who charged Vilém, was stunned by his counterattack.

Then I retreated. Kristla and pan Prošek died. Wyrdstone found plus salary for the protection gave me 96 gc.

Vilém got +1W, Jan got +1A, Barunka got +1W, Adélka got +1WS, Viktorka got +1A. I bought experienced WE, and that's it.

I just lost a leader with RXB, SDC and F&R rule. This battle was typical example of bad luck. My rating is down to 138.

9) Skirmish against Sisters of Sigmar
========================================

Lordling In Command Vilém: sword, RXB, helmet, toughened leathers, Infiltrate, BS5, Counter Attack, W2
Lordling Jan: darksteel sword, RXB, toughened leathers, helmet, W2, I7, WS5, A2
Sorceress Barunka, sword, Witchflight, Doombolt, W2
Beastmistress Adélka: sword, beastlash, RXB, Expert Swordsman, Combat Master, Sprint, WS5
Heroic Shade Kašpar: sword, RXB, A2, master of Poisons, Wyrdstone Hunter, Infiltrate
2 Witch Elves: Axe, Ld9, A2
Dog Sultán

Rating: 138

Opposition: About 16 nuns, halfcook, ogre.

Vilém and Kašpar infiltrated to their flank.

I moved forward, they moved forward, Vilém shot at one of them and missed, Kašpar cllimbed on a building. Nuns split into two groups. Five of them and halfcook attacked Vilém, rect continued against my main group. After several shots, Vilém was knocked down.

I moved Barunka aside and casted a Doombolt into the 5 group. Two nuns were knocked down. Vilém retreated so they could not shoot at him again.

They moved again. Knocked Vilém down again. However, now they became a little separated. Ogre came too close. In my turn, boths WE charged ogre, dog charged a nun standing behind ogre, Adélka stayed hidden because she was too afraid of the ogre. Vilém stood up and went to hide to a building, leaving four nuns with no one to charge. Kašpar made a diving charge on the fifth nun. Vilém shot at halfcook and missed. Barunka rushed forward. Unfortunately I did not realize that she is in charge range of Kašpar's nun, so she only ran forward and failed to cast Doombolt.

Dog took his nun down, the two WE made two wounds to ogre and one of them went OOA, Kašpar did not wound his nun and she did not wound him.

Next turn, my poor dog was massively charged as well as my remaining WE. Barunka was charged as well. Vilém was shot and knocked down by halfcook.
Barunka, WE and dog went OOA. Kašpar stayed. Then retreated.

Taking into account strenghts of participating warbands, the fight went as expected. I was lucky this time. Only dog died. Barunka survived against odds.

I got 4 XP just for survival, so everyone advanced. Vilém got +1I, Jan learned Counter Attack, Barunka learned Sorcery, Adélka learned Strike to Injure, Kašpar learned Counter Attack and Haggle and WEs got +1I. With some haggling, I was able to get a shade with a bow and a corsair with a sword.

10) Watchtower against Dwarfs
========================================

Lordling In Command Vilém: sword, RXB, helmet, toughened leathers, Infiltrate, BS5, Counter Attack, W2, I7
Lordling Jan: darksteel sword, RXB, toughened leathers, helmet, M4, W2, I7, WS5, A2, Counter Attack
Sorceress Barunka: sword, Witchflight, Doombolt, Sorcery, W2
Beastmistress Adélka: sword, beastlash, RXB, Expert Swordsman, Combat Master, Sprint, Strike to Injure, M3, WS5
Heroic Shade Kašpar: sword, RXB, A2, master of Poisons, Wyrdstone Hunter, Infiltrate, Haggle, Counter Attack
2 Witch Elves: Axe, Ld9, A2
Corsair: sword
Shade: Axe, bow

Rating: 182

This time I went against 13 dwarfs (armed with crossbows, blunderbusses and ithilmar weapons), halfcook, Tilean marksman, Arabian merchant with bodyguard, warlock and troll slayer. Half of my warband had to leave for a walk, so I chosed the more valuable - WEs, Kašpar, Jan. I put Adélka on the tower to light a fire - she is my most expendable hero. Barunka, shade and corsair stood around the tower and Vilém infiltrated to unhide dwarfs.

Dwarfs moved forward, Vilém unhided them but stayed hiden. Initiative dwarf with a lantern unhided Vilém, dwarf leader shot him with his elven bow and some nimble dwarf finished him with crossbow.

Generally, the fight was predictable and no fun, with the dwarf player constantly whining when he did not roll what he wanted (but rolling it too often) and being so unhappy when my leader had to be shot by some henchman (because of his W2) thus depriving the dwarf leader of one precious experience point...

I moved Barunka out of sight of most dwarves and she failed to cast Doombolt. Twice. After three turns of failing to start the fire, Adélka was shot down by a crossbow volley.

Finally, warlock with flaming sword charged my corsair and sent him OOA and I could retreat.

Vilém died. Adélka hates dwarf noble. I hate dwarf player, but so does everyone.

Barunka and Kašpar learned Fey Quickness, Adélka learned Step Aside, Corsair got WS5 and shade got Ld9. With some haggling, I managed to buy a new lordling with a sword and toughened leathers.

Ouch.
Sometimes I feel that the Dwarfs in Mordheim had some Lobby in the rules design process.

i think that warband isn't fair, nor coherent with the warband list. Fisrt dwarf could not take elven weapons, as ithilmar. Second, why a dwarf player use a human warlock, and also he have too many additional models. This is more a pirate crew then a dwarf warband.

thanks for your report,
the progress of Dark eleves warband list is great, what a great job!

Well, I did not check it. But dwarf can take an elf bow if he has Weapons expert skill. I think that anyone can buy ithilmar weapons, it is just matter of money and luck. And number of hired swords is also just a matter of money.

As i registered today because of someones interest in my lizarden warband, I feel obliged to comment this too. I am the Kislevite player from these reports and co-author of some of the alternative scenarios.
First to say, Loflar is so unlucky in thi campaign I have never seen before :-). Second to say, I suppose the Druchii warband is very week or at least fragile with a very heavy start.
And as to our friend playind Dwarves. The warband is made according to the rules, there is no problem. But the player is playing it very intensively in the name of effectivity and it is the result. In this campaignh he was not beaten yet no matter how hard we try. If you want to look on our campaign results, see http://valdora.oddiloko.org/dokumenty/kampane/aktualni/ and take the "kampan s mysinkou.htm" link. Mysinka is the dwarf player. :-) This is in czech, but you may understand the results.

11) Defending camp against Bretonnians
========================================

Lordling In Command Jan: darksteel sword, RXB, toughened leathers, helmet, M4, W2, I7, WS5, A2, Counter Attack
Lordling Vilém II.: poisoned sword, toughened leathers
Sorceress Barunka: sword, Witchflight, Doombolt, Sorcery, Fey Quickness, W2
Beastmistress Adélka: sword, beastlash, Expert Swordsman, Combat Master, Sprint, Strike to Injure, Step Aside, M3, WS5
Heroic Shade Kašpar: sword, poisoned RXB, A2, master of Poisons, Wyrdstone Hunter, Infiltrate, Haggle, Counter Attack, Fey Quickness
2 Witch Elves: Axe, Ld9, A2, Iž
Corsair: sword
Shade: Axe, bow

Rating: 189

Opposition: 13 brets, halfcook, Tilean marksman, Arabian Merchant, Shade scout, Ogre

Shade scout is my hired sword, described here. Defending camp is a scenario where defender tries to stop attacker from looting his tents. In the end, both sides get 1d6 gc per tent they hold.

I deployed among tents, brets deployed on one side of the table. Kašpar infiltrated slightly to the side to unide them.

They went forward (sending the ogre fast forward) and shot. No resut. Their two knights on horses tried to get around and stopped behind an open door in one ruin. I charged the ogre with both WE, Vilém and Adélka, corsair charged one of the two knights. Kašpar, shade and Jan shot. No result. Barunka casted Doombolt on a group of three Brets and sent one OOA, knocking down the second. One WE was knocked down.

The other knight on horse charged my corsair. Bretonnian shooting line went forward. My memory gets a bit blurred here...

Anyway, Jan charged bret archer behind a window and managed to stun him. He was then countercharged by some other bret and halfling. Halfling, having higher initiative, attacked first and sent Jan OOA.

Knights sent corsair OOA and destroyed a tent. Other tent was destroyed by some other hero in frontal attack. The battle with ogre ended in a stalemate. Kašpar was shot OOA by the shade scout. I retreated.

Jan was stabbed into hand, so his WS went back to 4. Kašpar is now nervous, I4.

Jan learned Lightning reflexes, Vilém got BS5, Barunka learned Lightning reflexes, Adélka got +1W, Kašpar got +1W. Viktorka proved her talent, and having Ld 9, assumed comand. She also advanced her I to 7. The second WE, Kristla, got WS5. Corsair now has BS4, and so does the shade.

I found 4 wyrdstones, sold three, which with other income gave me 81 gc. So I bought a new WE, sword and dog.

Things are looking a bit better now. I go to the next battle with 11 members, 6 heroes and rating 234.

Opposition: Somewhat depleted witchhunters, which however included heroic flagellant (A4, WS4, resilient), halfcook, trollslayer, two dogs, priest, three witch hunters and two other flagellants.

They massed behind a building on their half, waiting for me to come into their firing range. I infiltrated with Kašpar on a bridge connectiong two ruins near them and in my first turn Barunka flew to the same building just to keep them unhided. The rest went behind, trying to stay in cover.

All two dogs of WH went forward. This proved to be game winning move, as one of them unhided Kašpar and got to charge range of two of my witch elves, in a place with no cover from shooting. The other went to a building on the other side of the table. Then they shot on their only visible target - Kašpar - and finally sent him OOA.

My two WEs charged a dog and sent him OOA. My dog charged the other dog and Adélka ran after him. Others went forward as well. Trying to cover my two WEs, I had to move Barunka out of cover. So she did and failed to cast a Doombolt. Dogs did not hurt each other.

Some witch hunters moved to help their remaining dog (which got their uberflagellant into charge range of Viktorka), the resat was shooting. One of my WEs went OOA, Barunka lost 1 wound.

Adélka charged the dog, Viktorka charged the flagellant and corsair followed her to help. Barunka again failed to cast Doombolt. Adélka took the dog OOA. Witch hunters shot Barunka down from the bridge. Viktorka did not wound the flagellant.

In WH turn, corsair was charged and beaten OOA and Viktorka stunned. Then I retreated.

I found three wyrdstones and a straggler, which was promptly sacrificed. Kašpar was captured, but I bought him for 35 gc. I bought helmet and toughened leathers for Viktorka and halberd for Kristla - I want to try 4 WS5 S4 attacks.

Jarmila and corsair survived.

Lordling Vilém II.: sword, RXB, toughened leathers, BS5, Infiltration

Corsair: sword, WS5, BS4

Dog Sultán

Rating: 245

Opposition: I don't remember details. Nasty vampire with horde of followers.

Scenario is taken from Empire in Flames.

We deployed on opposite sides of table, so the bandits from central building could not see us. I deployed my two infiltrators just slightly forward hidden on a top of a ruin. They stayed there all the game because Kašpar was too important for post-battle activities to risk him and I did not want to risk Vilém getting injured as well. Unfortunately combat happened out of their range...

Undead were approaching by the opposite side of the table so I moved to meet them, leaving my infiltrators where they were. Barunka came forward to try Doombolt. Out of three attempts she had, she failed to cast twice and third time the spell did not wound. Then she was charged and put OOA by vampire. At that time, I already had rest of my warband in charge range, so vampire was charged by all three of my witch elves.

Corsair, shade and dog charged the undead horde. Adélka was too afraid, and Jan too far. All the effort of WEs resulted by vampire being knocked down (he regenerated some wounds). Corsair was stunned and shade knocked down. Dog did not wound as well.

In undead turn, corsair shade and dog went OOA. Viktorka was charged by some dregs and ghouls, but her lightning reflexes stunned two of them and the third one missed.

Then I retreated.

Corsair and dog died. Barunka survived against odds. I bought two dogs, halberd and helmet. Jarmila and shade got +1WS.

14) Hidden treasure against Posessed
========================================

Witch Elf In Command Viktorka: darksteel sword, toughened leather, helmet, Ld9, I7, A2, Lightning Reflexes
Lordling Jan: sword, toughened leathers, helmet, M4, W2, I7, A2, Counter Attack, Lightning Reflexes, Combat Master
Lordling Vilém II.: sword, poisoned RXB, toughened leathers, BS5, Infiltration
Sorceress Barunka: sword, Witchflight, Doombolt, Sorcery, Fey Quickness, W2, Lightning Reflexes, Counter Attack
Beastmistress Adélka: poisoned sword, beastlash, Expert Swordsman, Combat Master, Sprint, Strike to Injure, Step Aside, M3, WS5, W2
Heroic Shade Kašpar: sword, bow, toughened leathers, A2, W2, Master of Poisons, Wyrdstone Hunter, Infiltrate, Haggle, Counter Attack, Fey Quickness
Witch Elf Kristla II.: Halberd, Ld9, A2, I7, WS5
Witch Elf Jarmila: Halberd, WS5
Shade: Sword, RXB, Ld9, BS5, WS4
Dogs Sultán and Tyrl

Rating: 244

Opposition: Warband of posessed, complemented by Tilean Marksman, Shade Scout and Goblin Hunter. One posessed was ill and stayed home, though. Rating about 350.

I put my infiltrators to forward houses to search them. Druchii moved forward, Barunka teleported on top of tower to search it. I found nothing. Posessed went forward and found my infiltrators.

Infiltrators retreated, others moved forward to help them. I tried some other houses and again, nothing. Barunka sent one brother OOA with doombolt. They went forward again, getting very close to Kašpar. Everyone shot at Barunka, causing her 1 wound. Again they found nothing, but the last house was in their territory, so I decided not to fight for it.

But Jarmila already had to charge the group close to Kašpar, so Kašpar joined her. Jarmila stunned a cow, Kašpar went OOA. In their turn, my dog was charged by another cow and Vilém was charged by posessed. Barunka was knocked down by shooting, Vilém was knocked down by bashing and dog was sent OOA.

Then I retreated. Dog died, Jarmila survived and Kašpar survived against odds.

Viktorka got +1A, Jan learned Jump Up, Vilém learned Counter Attack, Barunka learned Jump Up, Adélka learned Dodge, Kašpar learned Combat Movement and Fury of Khaine, Jarmila got +1S. I found 4 wyrdstones and overturned cart with 6 gc.

Final composition:
=============
Witch Elf In Command Viktorka: darksteel sword, toughened leather, helmet, Ld9, I7, A3, Lightning Reflexes
Lordling Jan: sword, toughened leathers, helmet, M4, W2, I7, A2, Counter Attack, Lightning Reflexes, Combat Master, Jump Up
Lordling Vilém II.: sword, RXB, toughened leathers, BS5, Infiltration, Counter Attack
Sorceress Barunka: sword, Witchflight, Doombolt, Sorcery, Fey Quickness, W2, Lightning Reflexes, Counter Attack, Jump Up
Beastmistress Adélka: sword, beastlash, Expert Swordsman, Combat Master, Sprint, Strike to Injure, Step Aside, M3, WS5, W2, Dodge
Heroic Shade Kašpar: sword, bow, toughened leathers, A2, W2, Master of Poisons, Wyrdstone Hunter, Infiltrate, Haggle, Counter Attack, Fey Quickness, Combat Movement, Fury of Khaine
Witch Elf Kristla II.: Halberd, Ld9, A2, I7, WS5
Witch Elf Jarmila: Halberd, WS5, S4
Shade: Sword, RXB, Ld9, BS5, WS4
Dog Tyrl

Rating: 275

The warband also owns 4 wyrdstones, 8 gc, axe and sword.

So, this is end of campaign. I did not win a single battle. There was some bad luck and some bad decisions as well. But I still blame the luck more.

During the campaign, I lost: noble, two lordlings, beastmaster, shade, corsair, witch elf and 7 dogs. That is 1 model per battle.

I think that the warband needs some more work (read strengthening). I already have some ideas, but let's wait for next issue of Herald.
