You really modernized that Spearmen kit by repositioning and adding the Corsair bits. Nice job.

I like the paint job as well!

Wonderful, question...how were you able to line up the Cold Ones front to back with the tails sticking out like they do?

Shadow_Cleric or anyone else - what models were used to make the shade conversion? To me it looks like Corsair legs, however I can't tell what was used for the heads or torsos.

Thanks shadow - so the glade guard come with hooded heads or did you green stuff the hoods? I absolutely love the conversions by the way!

NVM I just checked and they do come with hooded heads. Again great conversion!

I'm surprised how much I like the pictures you've shown. Well done! Also thank you for the paint recipes!

If I may ask, is the base for the Hydra a home-made thing? It looks similar to the High Elf Dragon base but *different*.

Fantastic models. I really love how you personalise everything in your army. I also love the dank grittyness of your colours. Someone said it looked ordinary but I feel it looks more realistic and less cartoony, well done!

Nice! reminds me of the good old days when everything had green bases! it was unheard of then to paint it another way. Some very good modelling and painting throughout the blog, hopefully you will be inspired to paint some more with the new book on its way.

Do you still have this army? It's a real trip to see the units at 4x4/3. I use that COB as a Witch elf unit filler...or will once I get my hands on the extra witches & exec's I need to finish my Hag Queen Army.

Thanks for the kind replies. I guess I am not the only old elf around here who remembers 4 wide units and green bases......

I sold all my dark elves and with these new models coming up I am eager to replace everything.
It is funny that the new warriors look a lot like my last conversion of them.

Always loved the look of the metal spearmen so I am happy with the new warriors. The masked ladies on the cauldron reminds me of the old cauldron.

Stay tuned! .... already got myself a plastic sorc

Hey Shadow Cleric i am still in love with the Shades you built. How did you sculpt the swords? Is there any technique there that you wouldn't mind sharing? Also how did you get the hands on the model to double grip the hilts?

Thanks!

Thanks for the kind words! Always nice to read that people like the converted shades.

Here are some picture of them in progress:

I will try to write down how I made the double handed weapons.

It is a glade guard / corsair / executioner conversion
Cutting the corsairs arms at the wrist made it possible to align the hands for doudle handed grip. Drill a hole in the fists and put a plastic rod through them.
This gives a base for sculpting the handle of the sword and gives a good idea of the pose.

Copied the old executioner sword with putty and stick them on top.

Pretty easy ;)

Enjoying your work very much. The free hand Cold One Knight banner is beautiful and as has already been said, your converted shades are superb.

I also like the nostalgia moment when all wars were fought on golf courses! :)
