Dark Eldar - Good source for Bitz

Post by Ungorlucky »

I know some of you have welcomed the release of the IOB set and queried the use of HE models to be used as DE. I agree with the comment that this would be difficult to do .

However I am more excited about the release of Dark Eldar , with pictures of the sprues available on War Seer and the pictures of some of the painted models sent to me in a GW newsletter, I think this will yield us plenty of bits to do some brilliant conversions. I personally cannot wait until the release of these.

Unless of course you are after the small rulebook, then I wouldn't buy the IOB set and save the money and put it towards some of these aforementioned exciting new figures. 8)

Yes from what I've seen they are miles ahead of the old emo ones. Those 2h swords on the whatchacallits are going to be making their way into many a fantasy player's army, that is for certain. I really like that they actually look more like eldar now.

Yes, the Archon, with one of the variant heads, can be a heavily armoured highborn without any conversion.
The plastic sprues can also provide lots of bits for all of our troops.

The Archon could almost be Malekith.

Thats exactly what i thought when i saw the GW mailer. Was also thinking that Wych would make a good Hellebron or Hag in general

*Edit- the mini i was referring to is the Lillith Hesperax mini

@ Calisson Thanks for that - these look great, just found the info on the GW site as well - a whole pile of conversion opportunities here - bugger more money to spend :-)

One thing I find amusing is that the paint scheme with black armour, thin teal/green edging with the white banners is exactly one of the three schemes I came up with recently for my DE. I also put the white on the cloth. I guess in fairness I didn't put any bronze in there though so it's not entirely the same.

The more I look at those pics the more amazing bits I see in my DEs future and many a pay cheque down the drain.

Calisson Thanks for the link for the sprues.

For me this is almost as good as getting a new wave of figures. There are many conversion opportunities here as the troops on the sprues have been well broken down into individual legs and arms etc.

Even the vehicle kits could potentially become components for chariots.

I can even see some of our members resurrecting the Cult Of Slaanesh armies with all the leather and whips that seem to be in abundance.

The plastic sprues look great, my paint brush will definitely not be able to keep up with all the new models I will be converting in November.

The new Lillith Hesperax looks fantastic as well, but I'd better go buy one of the current models before they get phased out.

Whilst I am not very good at putting links into post as I am a Technophobe, you may want to look at the "What's New " on the GW site . Jes Goodwin has started an article on the Dark Eldar and there are some more pictures of the new models.

You may be interested on "Herdstone" (of which I am a long time member) under "Warhammer World" under the post "UK Games Day 2010" on page 2 there are many pictures of the New Dark Eldar.

I'm thinking the new Wyches are extremely close to plastic witch elves, especially if you find a dark eldar playing friend willing to swap the male bodies for female ones and maybe a few right handed cc weapons to make up for the pistols.

The only problem is the pipes but they shouldn't be too hard to get rid of.

You can swap the female torsos from the Kabalite Warriors sprue for the male wych torsos. Then you can make plastic black guard, and plastic witch elves.

The new Raider could be handy for conversion into a Dark Elf raiding skiff. That is, should they ever bring back the warhammer naval rules.

I was thinking a lot of the raider and tanager pieces could be used in making Dark Elf buildings.

My thoughts exactly - might make a novelty piece for a display board too. And the Archon/leader sitting in it would make an interesting master/dread lord for a converted chariot.

I just checked out the warseer photos of the sprues and the possibilities seem endless.

Lots of cool conversion possibilities 8)

When are they released?
That's silly! Playin with little statues, pretendin' they're fightin'! Why not just round up a bunch of real goblins and lettem' whack it out?

According to what I've seen release is November, if everything is on schedule the local store owner is confident about the 3rd-5th, so not much longer.
I've been to Middenheim,
I've been to Ulthuan,
I've been to Cathay too,
So what, so what
so what so what you boney little f***
