Painted Sorceress

Post by Dyvim tvar »

Just picked up this model last week and painted her up. I wanted her to really stand out and rise above my spearmen, so I modeled a some magical flames that she is "surfing" on. Anyway, here's a pic:

very nice. I really like the flesh and the flames. Could we get a pic from the back to see more of the cloak? Also, how did you do the flames(painting them I mean)?

Nicely painted, but that's just a plastic sorceress, she's not finecast.

Yeah, otherwise you'd be able to use her as an eraser.

Very nicely painted though.

Very well done, that's a clever way of using the blue and green to contrast but using freehand to tie them together.

Nice - love the paint job (especially the colour selection and the freehand) on the sorceress...
...but I see three (minor) problems:
1. The flames doesn't look like flames to me, more like (rather cool) tentacles. Needs a more jagged surface.
2. Using almost the same colours on the flames and skin is asking for trouble and really hard to pull off even for the very best of painters. I would suggest tinting the flames in another colour.
3. You are a better painter than a photographer. The pic is blurry and it is impossible to tell if you have used highlights etc. on the skin.

Ok, so let's just call them tentacles instead of flames ...
As for their color, I don't think any other color would work within the color palate of the army.

I agree the picture is a bit blurry. The skin is Built up in multiple shades. You can see some of this on the belly more easily than on the face in the pic.
