Raging Heroes' DE preview

Post by Darkmark »

So, you don't get any new toys then they all come along at the same time!

Looking at the preview I get a real CoS vibe from them; perhaps too much so? The characters look great, some gorgeous.

I think it may be the basics such as spears that make this a big one, or not. Realistically this can't happen for quite some time. GW have emptied the coffers of most, then we have Xmas, and the brokeness that comes after for a couple of months. So, maybe Easter time perhaps with an end of year delivery ETA? Sadly way off my time line for serious consideration.

Thanks.

I would have to say that from that lot I only like the look of the Vestal Cav. Everything else looks a slight bit overdone. Well, to be clear, the Cav looks overdone too but thats good in this case. I would almost rather use them for warlocks than my old metal Diaz seekers. I for one could not be more pleased about the obvious Slaanesh influence. The harpies are also neat, miles better than GW's but that's not saying much. There is a limit to the number of evil spikes you can put on a model, and they've gone thundering past that limit on a platinum palanquin pulled by hookers.

Well, the big wagon might not be what I'd add in my army, but the rest looks great imo. I don't mind a bit of slaaneshi themed army.

I like the one with the halberd. You don't see many females in fantasy, period, where the armor actually looks like it might protect them.

As for the chariot, I doubt I'd use it as a cauldron of blood but I'd definitely use is as a Warshrine of Slannesh.

And the battle hippo could always be a dark elf champion (the sorceress got tired of turning people into newts).

I think it's all freakin awesome. RH is doing really clever innovative stuff and I can't wait to see what's next. The TGG stuff is so cool I'm tempted to buy some and I have never even come close to playing a 40k style game.

As for the Slaanesh feel, I like that just fine as it fits well with my girls already. The only problem for me is that half the figures will be male!

I plan on going full bore apeshit on the kickstarter when it happens!
That's silly! Playin with little statues, pretendin' they're fightin'! Why not just round up a bunch of real goblins and lettem' whack it out?

They certainly look interesting. I'd consider buying some non-GW stuff, but it needs to be cheaper. Unfortunately, in most cases it isn't. I really do like the look of some of them though.

What's not to love?
At least half of the sketches are better than the GW ones - and those are already awesome.

Although they clearly pinched my idea for their dark rider concept:

Very nice stuff from RH.

@Lion of Flanders: I also like your Dark Rider idea, though he looks more like my image of a warlock. Maybe I will copy your idea for my warlocks. ;)

Awesome Sketches - I really like the theme behind the harpies / succubi - great concept! All these could make for a great alternative looking army! The babe with the battle axe rocks. :D

Yeah, I wish we had Executioners Axe still ;) She'll probably still be a master on foot, or maybe my new champion for the executioners.

IMHO:
Altar of the Succubi - "Cauldron of blood with Harpies". Nice but a bit too busy. 6/10
Fenyaa - Halberd Warrior - "Executioner/Black Guard Heroine". Really (x2) nice. Pose will loose some appeal when ranked up. I want a lot of these. 9/10
Liligrith - Exanguinatrix - "Witch Elf". Really nice (but not up to new WE standards). Fallen Wardancer? 7/10
Lady Darkriss - "Sorceress//Dreadlord". Love her pet dragon. I will probably add something to her left hand. 8/10
Xarsiss - Succubus Queen - "Harpy". Nice concept but I like my harpies to be more animal than human. Will need some heavy conversion. 6/10
Senshyrha - Slave Master - "Unit filler". Brilliant. 9/10
Krassh - Mistress of the Beasts - "Unit filler or Beastmaster on foot". Cool but more Dark Eldar than Dark Elf. 7/10
Keerakx - Spearman Warrior - "Dreadspear". Wow, this is how the Dreadspears should have looked. I want 50 or so, but will give them plain shields. 9/10
Azeryaa - Succubus - "Harpy". Lovely. 7/10
Akarith - Vestal Cavalry - "Dark Rider". Amazing. 7/10

This will be expensive ;)
