[PLOG] Dastan's Cult of Khaine army

Post by Dastan Coldeye »

Hi everyone! I've decided to start up a painting log to keep me motivated and get some feedback as I'm going along. Anyway, here's the first mini for my army, the Supreme Sorceress. A bit of an experiment in skin tones for the 30 witch elves I have to paint later on... I may vary their colours a bit to create differentiation between the brides of Khaine and the sorceress convent... I'm also considering painting another sorceress model but with smoother blends on the cloak, freehand lining and NMM. What does everyone think?

Next up, 20 of the new Darkshards... loving these minis so far, beautiful simple sculpts and a joy to paint... might take a while though!

Looks cool. Keep posting! It would be really great to see that paint schema on other models and especially on witch elves or cauldron staff or sisters of slaughter (ie. black hair and black paint elsewhere) : )

OK, that's my favorite paint job on that plastic sorceress model that I have seen. Most folks overdo the hell out of the shadows in the skin particularly the midriff area and make it look like a bodybuilder carved out of wood.

You have done it very nicely! Well done!
That's silly! Playin with little statues, pretendin' they're fightin'! Why not just round up a bunch of real goblins and lettem' whack it out?

Agreed. The skin tone is really subtle and well-blended.

I am not digging the color of the base though -- just doesn't seem to work with the rest of the color scheme.

That is a beautiful elf on a very boring base. A beauty like that deserves finer accommodations!

Interesting skin tone you have there, care to share the recipe?

The base is bat bonkers too light IMO. Try a dark flesh dry brush over a dark brown instead.

Excellent start despite my, slightly grumpy, comments. ;)

A dab of static grass or snow would liven the base up. So would more extreme highlights on the brown via drybrushing

Very good paintjob!
I also like this mini. Want to convert it as a hag bsb. Has anyone done that yet? Need inspiration. :D

Looking forward to your witches and darkshards!
