www.Mordheimer.com: Previews (Jan 1, 2006)

Post by Mordheimer »

Happy New Year my friends! May the 2006 brings everyone health, plenty of time to paint and excellent games! May all your adventures in The City of the Damned may bring you good fortunes! [:D] I'm back from vacation (btw... the NY transit strike sucked! [xx(]) and I had to take a couple of days to get organized. Now, the plans for the New Year have been laid out. So here is a preview of all upcoming activities of The Mordheimer's Information Centre (http://www.Mordheimer.com) for the new year.

First, our goal is to complete the Mordheim Scenario Compilation Project, and create a free PDF of the work. Right now on the public site the list is 186 scenarios strong, but I have been finding many scenarios that were not there. So Far my unpublished list is at 194 scenarios. I know that we will break the 200 scenarios. Of those, 92 scenarios are 100% completed and accessible on the website. [8D] There are 37 transcribed, waiting for my lazy ass to hurry up and edit them in html. So, hopefully in the next two weeks we will have close to 125 scenarios ready. Once we catch up, I will reach the project volunteers for some more of their transcriptions. If you wish to take part of this titanic project, feel free to reach me by email. Your help would be appreciated!

Next on the agenda is collaboration with the awesome people of Druichii.net. Upon visiting their website (http://www.druchii.net) I was impressed by their 2 year project of re-designing the Dark Elf warband. They are in an ADVANCED development stage, so they are almost ready for a massive worldwide play-testing of their design. I have offered them all the resources at my dispossal to help them on this process, and later we would be able to submit their creation to SG for publication (and Unofficial status) and later to the Mordheim Rules Review Committee (for Official status and inclusion on the next Annual.) Meanwhile, a copy of their warband will be published on the website work everyone to enjoy and play-test! [;)]

Dark Elves are not the only warband to be re-designed! As many of you know, I have been a vocal advocate of a more intelligent and universal design of new elven warbands. Our goal is to include Shadow Elves, High Elves and Wood Elves on the process mentioned above. So far, GhostElf and Abused Toyz are designing a great Wood Elf warband. You have seen each of the author's creations of the SG forums, but the combination/tweaking of both authors are producing a real work of art! Soon the new warband version will be posted. Again, those who have play-tested the current one and sent their opinion are encourage to get the newest version and send feedback. [:D] After these two warbands are ready for submission to SG, we would like to sponsor the development of a fair and balanced High Elves warband, and hopefully we could beg Mark Havener for an update revision to his Shadow Elves warband. Again, our site would be 100% behind any effort to update the game we all love.

Last two on the warband re-design wagon are the Bretonnian and Ogre warband. While it is two early to tell if the designers are willing to share their work, as I just asked few days ago, I feel pretty confident that they will. These two warbands could help the developing of Alternate Mordheim Game Settings in the near future.

Speaking of Alternate Mordheim Game Settings, we have all the writing of the Albion Setting almost completed. While we have everything Martin "Bragança Escher" Greminger sent us, we want to include some basic material that appeared on Town Cryer 15... so everything will be located in one convenient resource. Also, Benjamin Bonadore has agreed for us to host the files for his Sylvania Setting... so soon you could get your hands into another exiting world of adventure!

No! I have not forgotten about the Bazaar of the Bizarre! We have collected original items from many collaborators that will for sure enhance the game. Again, the collection, once published and play-tested will be submitted to SG for consideration of the Mordheim Rules Review Committee to be integrated as official material.

Our idea is to conglomerate a lot of original material, and present it in behalve of their many authors in an organized manner. This way, SG can study the material with ease, quantify and justify their inclusion on the next Rules Revision. [^]

The work on the Shards of Power campaign will continue. Also, we have pending including the material from Ye Old World Amazing Race on our site (this will be a VERY hard procss!) Once organized, it can be made easily in a world-wide campaign. Only the future will tell!

Finally, we will continue to support great authors, like Ross "Pancreas Boy" Franks, Harrald "Archeonicus" Faessen, Donato Ranzato, Ian Davies, Mark Havener, Andy 'Da Bank' Tabor, Jared "Abused Toyz" Schmidt, Mike "Thrasher" Kitchenman, Davin “GhostElf” Madden, Terry Maltman, Scott "Ancient" Sarnecke and too many others to remember from memory! Your work and contributions to the game will ALWAYS be appreciated! [8D] We will also support gatherings that offer venues for us to play Mordheim, like the upcoming EuroGT XII Event http://www.eurogt.org.

Last, but NEVER least... I use this public forum to challenge Andy Hall, from the Specialist Games. For several months I have tried to open a communication bridge among us with little success. My experience and evidence clearly demonstrates that we, THE FANS, do want to support further developments of Mordheim. We understand very well the economics and business side of the equation. We are all willing to share, volunteer and contribute our time, creativity and resources to help Specialist Games to further develop the game we all love. While some of us, like myself, have somehow wiggled their way into creating something more tangible (like the many fan-sites around) most of them feel like their input into the game is beyond reach. This, by all means, need to stop. There are other games that attract our attention, and it is just bad business to encourage your players to move somewhere else where they could feel they are heard.

This year Mr. Hall, the fans will come in force. We will get organized. We will create and donate. We will expect no monetary compensation, but we will demand to be heard. We will knock on your door... many times. In 2006 we will reach the cross roads. Hopefully we will take the right path and will be able to create something wonderful together. [^]

To everyone... HAPPY NEW YEAR!

PS --> If you and your group are in need of a hard to find resource, please tell us about it. We will hunt it down, dig it up, chop it to pieces, glue it back together, spit on it, burn it, wash it, electroshock it, send it to therapy, massage it, chew it, digest it, caress it, shine it, abuse it, trample it, AND then include it on The Mordheimer's Information Centre for your enjoyment and convenience. Also, if you care to share your scenarios, tactics, optional rules, articles, home-brewed warbands... let us know and we will help you share your material! Remember to sign our guestbook and let us know what your opinion! [;)]

Yours,
