Groan Orcs in Blood Bowl Help Needed

Post by Joshmp52 »

Basically at our club we have just started a Blood Bowl League i have two teams entered in the league the Carcassonne Cavaliers (human) and the aptly named "squishy squishy crunch crunch" (goblins doh!)
Anyway getting to the point it was the first game of the league and i had yet to find out my fixture list i arrived and found i ahd orcs i thought ok not to bad run around them i had a fairly all round team with masses of fan facter as its a league and when you get pounded as badly as i did you needed it. Following is my starting roster.

Thrower Fan Factor - 8
Catcher Re - Rolls - 3
Catcher
Blitzer
Blitzer
Blitzer

Lineman

The game that following can be described as humorous or as disturbing personally it was humorous now i realise the consequences of the game now that i have to face another orc team that hasnt played in the league yet with my rather battered Carcassonne Cavaliers. The ending roster is as follows.

Thrower Fan Factor - 8
Catcher - Dead Re - Rolls - 3
Catcher - Dead Bank - 100000
Blitzer - Dead
Blitzer - Badly Hurt (Back next game)
Blitzer - Badly Hurt (Back next game
Blitzer
Lineman
Lineman - Serious Concussion (-1AV)

Lineman - Serious Concussion (-1AV)

Now i realise i am faced with the challenge of revamping my team with 100000gc in the bank to face a fresh unplayed orc team or at least unplayed in the league. What should i do???
and can anybody think of a name for my goblins as well squishy squishy crunch crunch suggested by arq just doesnt cut it lol.
For every winner there are hundreds of losers, chances are you're one of them.

The one thing that struck me as odd, is the absence of black orc blockers in your team. Even though they lack having the 'block' skill, their strength 4 combined with a massive armour value of 9 makes them a very fearfull thing on the pitch, especially once you start to max them out! (I've faced such a thing with dwarves and THAT was one scary match).

Should you continue with your current team, you'd have five players to field in your upcoming match. IMO, that's a prospect you wouldn't want to face, even if you have $100k in your treasury. Even if you'd gain a few goldcoins through starting the game, you can expect to be outrun in your next match as your opponent will be able to outnumber your team 2 to 1.

My only conclusion, if allowed by the league commissioner, is to start out with a fresh team. My advice would be to take: 3 BOBs, 2 blitzers, 1 thrower, 5 line-orcs, 3 RRs and 9FF. That would bring you through the first couple of matches decent enough.

Ya, see if you can start another team. Looks like your trying to do a lot for a starting team and maybe you just had a lot of bad luck

I don't see anything wrong with your starting team. Personally, I would do 2 things different.

- drop a re-roll for an apothecary (those Blitzers cost 9 and an apoth costs 5...a bargain had he been able to save your dead blitzer)

- drop both catchers for throwers (catchers go up pretty fast when you buy them anyway. Throwers can save you team re-rolls early on with their skills too and they have a 3 Strength and 8 AV so they survive better in the early game. Overall, developing your blitzers early is your best bet for long term growth of a human team so throwing them the TD's early is the best policy anyway.)
Anyone else find it kinda interesting that DE will not use gun powder because its unreliable but seem to have no problem using cold ones?
