My Nemesis Background

Post by Fingol23 »

Rackeith's Redemption

Several years ago a young noble called Rackeith was convicted of practicing magic. He would have been executed but for Furion who realised his potential and the fact that he was a true patriot to the Druchii cause. Furion persuaded Malkeith to reduce the sentence, so Rackeith was exiled.
For several years Rackeith ran a large territory in the border princes his few loyal warriors assisted by a subjugated night goblin tribe. Then one day a message arrived from Malkeith via the infamous mercenary Mengil Manhide saying that if Rackeith could thwart the efforts of the Asur or their allies to retrieve a strange artifact known as the nemesis crown as well as capture several slaves and artifacts then he would be able to return to Naggaroth in honour.
So Rackeith gathered his army to him and launched a raid on the dwarf hold in the mountains to the west of his territory hopping to find information as too the location of this crown.

To be continued...

I'd like to see it continued:). Here are my comments:

Furion persuaded Malkeith to reduce the sentence, so Rackeith was exiled.

Not going to happen. Furion himself is only allowed to live because of his impeccable service and complete loyalty to the Witch King. Any other male magic user could potentially fulfill the Prophecy of Demise, so letting him live would be blatant disloyalty on Furion's part.

Perhaps instead of taking the case to Malekith, Furion conducts an experiment before he plans to kill Rackeith, but Rackeith escapes? Just one idea, but it's ultimately up to you.

For several years Rackeith ran a large territory in the border princes his few loyal warriors assisted by a subjugated night goblin tribe

I like that part.

If the Witch King is going to welcome Rackeith home, it wouldn't be as a sorcerer. Unless of course this is a lie and Malekith intends to execute Rackeith upon return, or expects him to die in the war.

Either way, it looks like you've got a nice set up for the campaign. Tastyfish is working on some stuff to organize D.net, so I hope you'll be helping us out.

Thanks for the feedback her are my responses to some of the critiscm

Furion himself is only allowed to live because of his impeccable service and complete loyalty to the Witch King. Any other male magic user could potentially fulfill the Prophecy of Demise, so letting him live would be blatant disloyalty on Furion's part.

In response to this it was ultimatly the witch kings descision. Also Rackeith is a fairly lowly magician lvl 1 at most so Furion managed to convince Malkeith that it would be interpreted badly if he was seen to be scared of such a pathetic (by his standards) foe.

If the Witch King is going to welcome Rackeith home, it wouldn't be as a sorcerer.

During his exile Rackeith has learnt the value of secrecy and now mainly utilises his skills in the creation of magic artifacts and weapons.

And of course I will help the Druchii reign supreme.[/quote]

You could make him origonaly a commoner, and a second son to boot, then you could say that Furion took an intrest in him and Malikith stayed his hand because there was no way that he could possibly fulfil the prophacy.
Moding a group of Druchii.net players is much like directing the musical 'Cats' using actual cats. Frustrating, difficult, chaotic but ultimatley satisfying and a great deal of fun.

I wouldn't go so far as to say he is a low born but maybe from a quite minor house. Anyone else have any opinions?

Also I was thinking of making rules for him based on my sig but downgrading him to level one and making the osbidian rapier get killing blow on a five or six.

Level 1 battlefield magician is actually very, very powerful, you know...

Level 1 = the pwnz0r in the everyday WHFB world. It's actually quite a high level of ability, and would certainly warrant Malekith deciding that your character has to die.

Hmm, I wasn't aware of the lv 1 thing. I knew you seriously had to know your stuff to make it far enough to reach level one, but hey- learned something new.

Anyway, this is Dark Magic and the Prophecy of Demise we're talking about here. To be able to manipulate Dhar, a sorcerer would have to be at least level three with the other lores the dark elves practice. Think of Dark Magic like plutonium, it will blow you and everyone else to bits unless you know what you're doing. As for the Prophecy of Demise, it says that a first born son of a high family will master the dark arts, raise army of beasts, etc. and end Malekith's existance.

You can make Rackeith a second son, but there's still the remote possibility that he is secretly the first bastard son of some highborn ;) Malekith wouldn't dare take the risk. He's got too much to lose and

Okay he is a second son of one of those houses that say their noble but have about as much power as a night goblin in a black orc conference. Also in rules terms he doesn't get the plus one to cast I know this is just a small thing but it makes him inferior to the rest of the Druchii mages.

Anyway I have written some rules which you can see here: http://www.druchii.net/viewtopic.php?p= ... 9ff#590936

It doesnt matter how pathetic the house is, if there of noble blood then they could fulfil the profacy.

Rackeith triumphant!

On his way to the Dwarf hold Rackeith recieved word that two orc bosses had stirred up a minor revolt in his territory. Furious Rackeith altered his course to squash this uprising. The resultant clash was short and devastating with every greenskin put too sword for the loss of a mere four elves, Rackeith himself took down the troll and beheaded the rebiloius shaman.
With this minor inconvineance sorted Rackeith resumed his march on the dwarf hold. When he reached it he was delighted to find that it was already besieged by a horde of tomb kings. sweeping aside the Tomb King blocking force Rackeith's horde fell upon the two armies and through the execution of the liche priest destroyed the tomb kings and routed the dwarfs back to their hold were they are now besieged.
