Re: A journey into Darkness
Quick update although not finished fully still need to do the bases and a couple of minor touch ups but felt it was worth getting some new stuff up as it had been awhile.
I actually have a few bits that are really close to completion so hopefully fingers crossed will have some slightly more frequent updates for awhile

That small touch of adding the wires adds a lot to the models

Re: A journey into Darkness
Very nice update. Looking forward to seeing them on the finished bases.
Re: A journey into Darkness
I love them very much, especially the colour scheme and the string on the bolt throwers, but really, everything about them and the clean painting seems perfect. I look forward to seeing the finished bases.

Are you using 40s or 50s for those bases? Also, I agree on the wires. It adds a lot and really shows your attention to detail.

Re: A journey into Darkness
I am using 50s. The reason one of the Bolt Throwers is ever so slightly over the base is because it is finecast and was a really bad cast. GW to there credit have sent me a replacement which I will get painted up at some point.
I just used black thread for the strings. It works well and is easy to manipulate.

Great painting all around. The light pinkish tone would normally not be my thing but yours does look cool. Well done

Re: A journey into Darkness
Whoo update time.
So got a reasonable update for you today.
The Coldone Knights are finished.
I also managed to finish a hag. It was sitting on my desk when I started the Bolt Thrower crew so decided to paint her at the same time. Picture is a little blurry sorry.
I also managed to finish off the bases for the Reapers so thought I would post them as well
So getting near the end now of my initial list. Spent last night constructing 5 Warlocks. I still have 9 witches to paint, 7 shades and 6 Dark Riders.

What can I say other that, stunning update.
Love the contrast in colours and the freehand banner work on the CoK's is excellent.
Are you willing to jolt down a quick tutorial on how you are painting the pink/purple, it is an absolutely lovely combo which looks great against the rest of the pallette?

Re: A journey into Darkness
Happy New Year all!!!
Well I definitely fell of the wagon for awhile. Changing jobs and the distraction of the end times fluff and what it may mean has been very distracting. Also I had been painting my Dark Elves for about a year so needed a little break. Managing to squeeze out almost a full unit of Spider riders. The battle between the Nurgle Chaos Warriors and the Forest Goblin army in Glottkin being the inspiration there.
Anyway for this update I have managed to finish a Warlock unit and complete half a Shade unit. The Shades are not an original idea I have seen a few people on this forum who have done the sam, but none the less I really like them and they complement my warlock unit nicely.

Great looking models there.
Nicely painted and work well with the rest of the army.

Great looking models and yes, mandrakes are just awesome and match the warlocks nicely. Good choice.

Re: A journey into Darkness
Lovely work - the cobalt blue/purple/grey and pink are inspired. I'm way behind I know, but the wires on the RBT's are so well done. Thorough class.

Re: A journey into Darkness
Now for some Dark Elves
My Lord
Sorcerer
Executioners
I am currently working on a unit of dark riders. The next pictures are work in progress. All the Gold needs to be finished and the Black hasn't even been started but they are still starting to look quite cool so I thought I would show them anyway
