Wildrider Buses for the poor Woodelves?
Not sure if anyone pointed this out but Mat Ward either forgot or intentionally did not make the Elven Steed have the Fast Cav rule. In our book on page 87 he lists the Dark Steed as having the Fast Cav rule. So anyone riding it gets that benefit. He never put anywhere in the new Wood Elf Book that the Elven steeds have that rule. Sure, Glade Riders (as in unit) have it but he does not list it for the steeds. So Wood Elf Characters that take steeds and join Wildriders will take away their fast cav ability. That really sucks.
I discovered this as I was contemplating how nasty a Wild Rider bus could be.
Am I reading this wrong?

Re: No Wildrider Buses for the poor Woodelves
The Wood Elf Elven Steeds do have Fast Cavalry. Look under Mounts in the Hero Section.
Also, most Wildrider Buses consist of Great Stags.

Thanks. That is what I get for thinking he would list the mounts in the same area. In our book they are under Lords. I missed the entry under Heroes. Question? Why Great Stags. Those would certainly ruin the fav cav of the unit. It does NOT have the Fast Cav rule.
Title has been edited. Thanks Gerner!

I was about to say, if Wood Elves didn't get Fast Cav mounts then its definitely a mistake in the Dark Elf book and you could expect an errata. Fortunately that's not the case

Why Great Stags?
Because their stats are: WS5, S5, T4, W3 A2 with Impact Hits D3 - they buff the Noble's Wounds and Thoughness and give a lot of combat prowess.
But as it currently is I don't see a lot of Characters joining Wild Riders since the Wild Riders perform best in the front rank (and not the supporting attacks).
I have been thinking about Sister Buses with Great Stag Nobles, just like our Warlocks.

The difference is.. out Masters in such a bus have an 1+ armor easy. Masters of the Woodelves come along with 3+ armor.

But with 2 more strength 5 attacks and d3 impact hits, also T4 and W3.
Re: Wildrider Buses for the poor Woodelves?
S5 Impact Hits is nice. Whats the Stag's initiative, 5?

What is the base size of Great Stags now? Do they have a compatible footprint with regular cavalry?

50x50, so yes compatible. Lose the Fast Cavalry though. So it becomes a fairly slow, open topped bus with the loss of 1+ armour options.
Re: Wildrider Buses for the poor Woodelves?
Movement 9 isn't slow for cavalry.

True. But what makes our buses superior is the vanguard. Because then starting on DE player turn 2, you are in the enemy deployment zone lined up for flank or rear charges. So I would want to keep that sort of flexibility and keep the WE Heroes on steeds.

Silverhelm buses don't vangaurd and still kick butt. I suppose WEs are more reliant on evasion then HEs though, so loss of fast cav is a bigger deal for them.
