Still dies to a well placed magic missile
At least now the missile has to be in scope of banishment and not fireball.

Well, assuming he permits that spell to be cast.
Between his stat line, magic level and items, that's far from guaranteed.

On that point - we have always assumed that Malekith was the Dark King referred to in the prophecy. What if he is instead the first-born son of noble blood, and someone else (Archaon, perhaps) is the "Dark King"?
For science, the full prophecy:
And lo, he shall rule with a dark hand and his shadow shall touch upon every land. Steel will be his skin and fire will be his blood, in hatred will he conquer all before him. No blade forged of Man, Dwarf or Elf shall endure him fear. Though will it come to pass that the firstborn son of noble blood shall rise to power. The child will be learned in the darkest arts and he will raise an army of terrible beasts. Thus will the Dark King fall, slain by neither blade nor arrow but by a sorcerous power of darkest magic and so shall his body be consumed in the flames and for all eternity burn.
Food for thought.

Re: End Times: Khaine
Silly question time, but do we know if we can use the Avatar of Khaine model in Fantasy yet, or do we just use the Tyrion model? (If it's the latter, then why put an Avatar in the trailer?)

*Blessing Malekith apparently took the last bit of mojo Asuryan had. He's pretty much dead now, barring the power residing
in Malekith.
*Hotek is still alive, becomes Vaul's avatar long
enough to reforge Malekith's sword (which Tyrion destroyed) into
Asuryath, then kills himself with it.
*Orion dies against Tyrion in the battle for Averlorn.
*Alarielle pledges to marry Malekith after the war is won.
*Teclis
knows his plan to bind the winds of magic will sink Ulthuan, but
Alarielle says they can go hang in Athel Loren afterwords.
*Malekith initially forbids the plan, only agreeing when Tyrion is on the verge of victory.
*Final battle takes place on the Isle of the Dead.
*Tyrion
uses the Widowmaker to summon undead from the surrounding waters to
compliment his army. Five buried Phoenix Kings, including Finubar, are
among them.
*Malekith summons fiery spirits of all ten
post-Aenarion Phoenix Kings to fight back. Then, with Asuryan's magic,
he calls up every single hero ever to lay down their lives for the
elves, including Eltharion the Grim.
*This forces Tyrion to charge himself, but also messes up Teclis' spells to unravel the vortex.
*Tyrion tries to charge Teclis while he's distracted, Malhandir throws him off.
*Tyrion
goes for Teclis anyway. Malekith tries to run him down with his dragon,
but Morathi calls out in time for him to avoid it. Morathi shoots down
the dragon and Tyrion is on Malekith.
*It takes a while, but Tyrion is beating Malekith in a straight fight. He shatters Malekith's sword a second time.
*Alith Anar shoots Tyrion just as he's about to land the final blow.
*Malekith almost dies, but is saved by being bound to the Wind of Shadow.
*Alarielle is the vessel of the Wind of Life, her presence reinvigorating wounded elves.
*Alith Anar also shot Malekith in the back.
*Alarielle mourns Tyrion, who looks handsome again in death.
*Malekith picks up Widowmaker, which has become an ordinary sword. He tosses it into the ocean.
*Ulthuan starts sinking, Alarielle has to evacuate everybody to Athel Loren.
*Alith
Anar is the original, and he shot Malekith as a warning. The arrow tip
is next to his heart, and according to him can't be removed. It causes
constant pain. He says he'll kill Malekith with the net if he fails.
*Alarielle, now married to Malekith, says that Morei-heg won't pulling the strings of fate anymore. Presumably she is dead.
*Malekith, when alone, reveals he's already removed Alith's arrowhead.
*The book end with the elves chilling in Athel Loren, but with the quote that they have no future.

Good info.
I never payed much attention to the prophecy because it didn't exist in the original Malekith fluff.
But it is vague enough they could spin it different ways (or ignore it completely, GW style )

This seems to me like an emo teenager was paid to write the ending (for minimum wage). Really. This story and the logic behind it could not be a worse piece of literary work. Everyone is acting so far out of character it becomes ridicules. Poor show GW! Poor show.

Re: End Times: Khaine
Hi. Im a Wood Elf Cousin, just checking in.
Upfront I want to say, REFUGEES... WELCOME! Bring your families (if you did not flay them in the last 6 Millenia).
Now a few things to consider when living in the Forest
Rule number one. No meat. We dont eat meat here, and as Naggaroth is gone, and Ulthuan too, get prepared to eat ... veggies . Hands of the animals. They are not animals, they are magic using forest spirits. Dont say I didnt warn you...
Rule number two: Dont break branches of trees. They ... dont like. The will break parts off of you in return. Trees, ... how do I say this, ... they have feelings. That means, they get angry and whack you till you dead.
Rule number three: The south eastern parts of the forest. It is really not advised to go there at night. And day. And all other times, bad neighborhood. Worse then Malekiths old throne room. Might not find your way back in one piece. Ask the rangers for special permit if you stil lwant to go and carry a suicide wish
Rule number four: Once every year take a field trip down to Quenelles and hunt down the bretonians. Feel free to join. We call it "Wild Hunt", its kinda our national sport here. Its not mandatory ... but no one ever stayed home, ever. Its like a surge, loose control, I guess you are familiar with the concept? Big fun. Remember, leave some Brets for next year. Orion led the charge in the past, well, he is gone, but I am sure Malekith will make a good wild huntsman.
Last but not least, and this one goes without saying: No open Fires in the forest.
Ok, thats settled now lets ... well, what do you do in your spare time?

Here, I feel compelled to say "Thank you for the welcome " instead.
We should commemorate from now on, every year around this date, and institute a special day. Yeah, let's make it the fourth Thursday in November.
We would call that: "Thanks Giving Your Lands."
Don't worry, we are civilized, we know how to behave.
You had the opportunity to experiment with Morathi's magics, soon we will teach you how to improve your rough huts with no confort.
Our beastmasters were able to tame the wildest animals in the New World, I'm sure they will have a lot of fun out here.
Soon you'll be done with boring raw veggy dishes. Every Thursday, we have a recreation meal called "Burger Khaine", once you'll taste it, you'll love it.
But as for myself, I'm a sailor. Where's your harbour? You don't have any ? OK, we will have to fix that, too.
So thank you for your hospitality.
Be sure you are not talking to ungrateful. We will give you what we have best: our civilization!
Winds never stop blowing, Oceans are borderless. Get a ship and a crew, so the World will be ours! Today the World, tomorrow Nagg! {--|oBrotherhood of the Coast!o|--}

Oh hey! That's nice! We're invited to get past the initial defenses without having to burn and kill them! Well in our spare time we enslave humans, decapitate them, drink their blood, flay their skins... ehm. Well we do that to all kinds of races actually. Even our own kin. We believe in a powerful hierarchy. If you're capable of holding your sway over every single one of us, then there's nothing to worry about. You can impose any rules for as long as your head is still on your shoulders. It's fair. The elf on top gets to dictate the rules.
And of course, we'll be trying to take part in the leadership of your society. We're all together now, right?

Maybe a bit crazy sounding...
But do you think it's possible we're now going to have a shared book moving into the next edition? Maybe the High Elves could rebuild Tor Alessi, the Wood Elves return to their tree shagging and the Dark Elves move elsewhere. 3 Realms ruled by one king.
Same with Empire and Bretonnia (Aka Gondor and Rohan) In the Lord of the Rings game they share a book called Kingdoms of Men or something like that. Separate armies and backgrounds that can ally together.
Army Book Elves: 3 Realms of Elves, capable of allying under the Eternity King.
Eldamar, Lindon, Eregion,Grey Havens, Lórien, Rivendell,Mirkwood, Valinor, Tol Eressëa are all the Realms of the Elves in Lord of the Rings... All different style armies, but united when they fought under the old alliance.
It makes sense from a financial point. They can charge more for the 1 book for 3 Elf Races and increase the sales of alternate armies for Alliance builds.
Just a thought.
Otherwise we're going to have the best sitcom ever.

Re: End Times: Khaine

Yep - sounds like a good move for them. Especially with ET programming us all to use multiple armies. That way we all buy the core Elves book, and the Druchii supplement, and then maybe (based on the next few months crossover lists we'll all be playing/painting) one or two of the others.
As long as it's quality, richer content, I don't have an issue with this! I spend a lot of time in my army book, and could live with paying more for more. It's only if it's more for the same that I have an issue!

Re: End Times: Khaine
My thought on an uncomped endtimes list at 2400 points:
Malekith, the Eternity King
Master on dark pegasus, charmed shield, talisman of preservation, BSB, lance
600 pts worth of glade guards, about half trueflight, half hagbane
4 Reaper Bolt Throwers
4 Eagle Claw Bolt Throwers
Shoot everything, wood elf core is naturally great at hitting, Malekith can punish peoples toughness, and he + the master can tagteam stuff in close combat.
Consider that hagbane tips will make short work of most war machines, and Malekiths insane maneuverability, if you can get him into close combat with the opposition magic user asap, there is nothing left on the battlefield that could pressure him.
Malekith can move 40" per turn, and if he gets a steed of shadows cast off, that is upped to 60". You deploy him out of sight of magic, and on your own turn 1 he moves literally to any point on the battlefield which he chooses. Often behind the opposition character bunker. Barring magical attacking opponents (whom he can kill very fast should the need arise), nothing can touch him once he is in close combat. Only thing to look out for is people with 2+ vs fire - and even those guys will sometimes fail a ward save... With 9 ASF attacks, you just need one to get through to kill a regular lord.
