Re: Next ET books
He got a newer model in the last Skaven update (which was, admittedly, several years ago).

Ikit Claw fun facts:
1. He used to have the choice of any Lore of Magic other than Waaagh! magic. I remember the days of Ikit Claw fragging my opponent's Undead army (in the last edition to feature Nagash before End Times) with the old "bubble of Banishment".
2. He has a warpfire thrower built into one arm, which makes him one of very few special characters capable of detonating themselves in a mushroom cloud of magic without casting a spell.
3. Despite being a technically-minded sort of Skaven, he refused to be produced in Finecast because even he felt the risks were too high that something would go horribly wrong.

+1 This is very funny. Made me smile anyway! (Love the warps tone lighting effects on that painted mini).

Re: Next ET books
Thanks for sharing! Do you think part of the EndTimes trend towards bigger centre piece models is to do with painting skill. That giant Warpseer thing is impressive enough, and I'd love to be able to paint half as well, yet comparing it to the Ikit model above, it strikes me how much easier it is to get a good result on a larger canvas. The work on the Ikit is just way more impressive (IMHO), and maybe they've decided that giving people bigger models to paint better will be a bigger confidence/enthusiasm booster bringing people into the hobby. Who knows?!

I wonder how long the End Times series will last. It might take a while for all races to have their book.. Unless they start grouping quickly. I see a fifth book potential... For Archaon's final moves. We still need to see Brets and Dwarves make a move. All chaos armies could join up for the final one. Intersting times

And romantically this is a very moving time as well. All those cute couples who promised love until the end of times... Well... Time's up! Now's the time for change. The Everqueen certainly understood this. I wonder which other queens will.

Re: Next ET books
As far as I know the 5th book is confirmed and is the finale.
Where they go from there is anyone's guess at the moment. There are still rumours of a Bret and Skaven army book before 9th ed. Although how accurate that is I don't know.
I will like to hope that this entire series will not get reconned like SoC but would also like a world where we have more than just Chaos v Humans v Elves v Monsters.

Not sure you'd call it "romance" per se, but there was Malekith/Morathi of course, for an edition or so, until they got all PC and chemically castrated the pair of them.

Vlad and Isabella von Carstein - a romance which has in-game effects, and is actually a narrative driver in the End Times, as it's the reason why Vlad agreed to come back to serve Nagash.
Malekith and Allisara - this is new in this edition and is (ultimately) the narrative reason for Wood Elves having access to Dark Magic, even though Allisara has no in-game model.
Araloth and Lileath - a very recent addition, and really only played out in ET:K.
However, Warhammer romances for models with an in-game profile have a tendency to end spectacularly and/or badly. Morathi doesn't really "do" romance, if ET:K and the current Dark Elf book are to be believed. Stuff that would have made Caligula cringe and say "Whoa, too far!", yes - romance, no.
Turning to the fluff/books/Black Library - I haven't read much of that, but Detlef Sierck and Genevieve Dieudonne seemed to be doing quite well, and IMHO were a much more believable pairing than Tyrion and Alarielle. I'm also curious about how much of the Warhammer fiction would pass the Bechdel test...

Pfft! Given its ET:Khaine more or less confirmed that the new everqueen replaces her mother when a new king is crowned that means Caledor II knocked up his sister.
--- --- ---
As for other romances. Lucrezia Belladonna from the old Dogs of War book kind of fits the bill, though more in a black widow sort of way given her many lovers tended to die. Pretty sure Morvael/Mentheus were an item, not flat out said but kind of implied. According to Knights of the Grail the Duchy of Brionne is famed for its obsession with romances and the romantic to the point that its gets out of hand.
Romance is there in the background, but it generally doesn't get much attention paid to it given the nature of the game.

Re: Next ET books
Well the pre release is now up and I have to say there are now much better pictures available. Close ups aren't actually that bad, not something I will worry about however. This time next week however will find me playing with the refresh key a lot waiting for another Hardback edition.
Re: Next ET books
I've got a major issue with the new Verminlord. For a model with little to no armor and only 5 attacks it is exposed to way too many attacks back. Seems unfair compared to other monster models. Any decent size infantry unit will shred this guy. Brb says we can use the base size supplied with the model? I think I will continue to field my Verminlord that is metal and came on a 40mm base.

Re: Next ET books
Beautiful kit, but it says to me "Minotaur" more than "Ratman". Would make a nice Keeper of Secrets base for conversion IMO.
Someone remarked on Warseer that statswise and points wise it is similar to Orion ....but that it's a Lv4 Wizard!
So, I think the tradeoff of vulnerability to usefulness is OK. Rat Daemons should be tricksy rapiers rather than tanks.

Too easy to get this guy. Yes he has a movement 8 but he doesn't fly and doesn't have swiftstride. Our Warlocks could hunt him down easy unless he was in the middle of a square of slaves. But if you are using him for casting only you are losing out on his value. Against a monster he'll do real well. But still too easy to be hunted down in my opinion.
