[PLOG] Har Ganeth XIII Legion

Greetings!

Introduction
I started this PLOG in January 2015 when I returned form my time in Uganda and have done a lot of modelling and some painting in the meantime. My idea now is to structurally paint ALL my Dark Elves (20.000+ points) before I buy something new. From page 6 onwards the new progress will continue, page 1-6 are from 01-2015 until 05-2016.

Storyline
My army originates from the old Warhammer world, the Dark Elf land of Naggaroth and in specific the holy city Har Ganeth. My commander, Lord Drakon, has started a Civil War in order to destroy the corrupt regime of Malekith and made Har Ganeth the capital of Naggaroth. Lord Drakon represents the Dark Elf traditions of Nagarythe and the new ways of Khaine. Unfortunately the Old World is destroyed in the End Times and Har Ganeth is destroyed. However Lord Drakon and his army have survived and entered the 9th age, waiting to discover this new world and to establish a new Har Ganeth to mix their traditions of Nagarythe and Khaine with the new ways of the Dread Elves.

Dark Riders Unit I

Modelling part is done, this is the first unit I am going to paint !
I tried one (avatar) but not happy with the horse and rider besides the head so will repaint it.

Nice work - really like the WYSIWYG addition of the RXB's and the aesthetically superior horses. Reminds me to sweep through eBay stockpiling Corsair RXB's for future conversions myself. Are yours Glade Riders plus Corsairs only, or are other elements worked in there too? They feel a lot more "scout" and a little less "light cavalry", which feels good.

Thanks! They all have an bolt halter on their left side from the old warrior box. Spears are from new Dark Rider / Warlock box + also their swords at the right side from new set. Most of them carry some trophies in the form of heads or skulls of killed enemies from old warrior box.

I am going to try to give them assassin's creed based look, same as my shades so mostly white to contrast them with the rest of the heavy armoured army as good camouflaged outcasts of icy landscapes of Naggaroth.

Looks good, can you also post a picture of the Shades you referred to with the Assassins Creed look? I would be very interested to see those!

They look awesome, much better than the original in my oppinion! I completely agree with the scout look, isn't that what dark riders are supposed to be? Especially if you're connecting them with shades. (And yes, please do show us the shades as well.)

Thanks for the compliments. The shades have not been made yet, they will follow while working on special.

I will use glade guard heads and bodies, not yet determined repeater crossbows (warrior, corsair or darkshard) and weapons similiar to what assassins would have.

After the first horse and the amount of time and layers it took demotivated to paint the others. In the meantime started with some white on the riders. Hope to start with the other horses as soon as possible.

Sneak preview for the darkshard units next month, I converted some darkshard command models. I find the old command models from black guard, corsairs and executioners superior compared to the new ones. All of them are going to be re-painted.

While still painting my Dark Riders and deciding what to do with the repeater crossbow-women units I used yesterday night to convert my characters, my Har Ganeth War Hydra, Har Ganeth Bloodwrack Shrine or Cauldron of Blood (without Medusa), Har Ganeth Cold One Knights, Black Guard Prisoners (see fluff of Lord Drakon) and Warlocks.

Although I still have to paint most of it, only the Darkshards, Reaper Bolt Throwers and Shades are not yet build, but the army is taking form. I hope the army does look like an Har Ganeth army with the Executioner models converted into other units.

This looks great and has some very, very neat conversions. But an absolutely hilarious masterpiece is the facepalming black guard. If you finish painting the model, would you permit us to use a close-up picture of him? I'm not sure if he'll fit the theme but I'd like to try him as icon for error pages on the website.

Great conversions in there, as Daeron mentions, facepalm BG is great. Also like the use of the metal executioner models for the CoK's.

I really like your vision.

One change I would make is being more ambitious with Lord Drakon's steed.

I'd choose a different look to your rank and file Dark Riders. More of a charger to suit Lord Drakons heavy armour and sense of menace.

Perhaps Archaons steed?

Haha thanks, Daeron ofcourse I would be honored ! T.D. good point, the Archaon steed looks perfect.

One of the small things I personally like is the cat of the supreme sorceress. I never played heavens, but intend to learn and stick with it for this list, especially the Comet sounds devastating. When using the cat for the Comet token I am going to try make that small cat the most feared model in the army haha.

I am also really looking forward to my darkshard units, as those have the opportunity to make units in action (shooting, shouting commands, reloading etc).
