So I received the rulepack for the tourney I am preparing this Har Ganeth Invasion host for. Regaring painting and modelling this:


The 'What You See Is What You Get' (WYSIWYG) rule is in effect. Please read “Your Guide to WYSIWYG” further below.

Your Guide to WYSIWYG

Every model in your army must be representative of the model chosen from the relevant Army Book. It must be armed, armoured and equipped with all the war gear it is described as having, as well as based and sized appropriately.

Category Points Description

Look and feel 0 – 4
0 points if nothing is painted.
4 points if everything is painted in a similar fashion.
(A model counts as painted if it has at least 3 colours)

Basing 0 – 2
0 points if nothing is based.
2 points if every model is based in a similar fashion.

WYSIWYG 0 – 2
0 points if more than two units are not what they seem on paper.
2 points if everything is as it should be on paper.

Details 0 – 2
0 points if no details are visibly painted.
2 points if details are painted with the utmost care.

Conversions 0 – 4
0 points if no conversions are present.
4 points if the army has a considerable number of minor conversions or a few major conversions.

Unit Marking 0 – 2
0 points if all units look the same.
2 points if all units are individually identifiable as being separate parts of the bigger army (banners, markings, etc.).

Army List 0 – 2
0 points if the army list is illegal or incomplete.
2 points if the army list shows everything it needs to, plus the fluff to set your army apart.

Wow Factor 0 – 2
0 points for a regular Joe’s army.
2 points if the army is a real eye catcher.

So then my question
- Converted Cold One Knights have Draichs instead of lances and shields (shields can be added)
- Converted Sisters of Slaughter have armour
- Converted Dark Riders have full command, while I field only musician
- Converted Bloodwrack Shrine has two executioners models as hags, and another lady in cauldron (of blood) with banner. It also contains Medusa, but does the former create problems regarding WYSIWYG ?
- Converted Darkshard models, can they be normal darkshard or do they have to be command models ?

Are these problems for WYSIWYG tourney ?

I would say it depends on the tournament and its judges. I personally would approve anything that would look like a choice made for some reason (usually fluff, but there can be more, the use of draichs across your army woul definitely count as this for me), but I like conversions and have many strange ones in my own army. Maybe you could ask them in advance?

As I will field this list for first (friendly) battle in the local store next week wednesday I completed the force (I used 20 old darkshards). I found out that the points used are not 2400 but 2250, so the assassin had to go and the Lord Drakon became an master on manticore (more fluffy). This is the list I am going to work (paint) on the coming months, with deadline April 19th.



Just a shot of all the WIP executioners, project for the futute full 7th edition Executioner army. It is really a shame we don't have a character which makes Executioners core like Hellebron did with the Witch Elves last edition.

Yes, good you saw, I changed it to legal base print. Also had to swap lance for halberd because of points !

Halberd looks pretty cool really, think you could get away with calling it a lance in future games if needed.

Brilliant ideas and conversions in this army. I can't wait to get to grips with some shade ideas (got some wood elf spares from my brother to pilfer) this thread has convinced me to hit the bits box and have a real mess around, I'll be a happy happy if I can get r silts anything like this. It is going to look really intimidating when completed, it already does!

Wow! So much incredible work since I last swung by! The cat is terrific - it was my favourite until I saw the mad bathing cauldron BSB - superb model and conversion. What model is that?

I'm a big fan of the Shades too. Especially the fourth up with the spiked club and sword on her belt.

I do think the idea of a meatier steed for Lord Drakon is a solid idea. His awesome armour, sweeping fabrics and super crested head (is that a dire avenger?) do look like they'd fit better with a denser, more muscular steed.

That said, for the Dark Riders I think things are perfect. I'm a little way off painting mine, but will definitely keep looking at yours and - I'm Druchii what do you expect? - stealing ideas!

EDIT - so I missed a page when commenting... The manticore is epic - love the side on pose - a glorious update!

After the post of flatsworldedge (being little demotivated to paint anything big) I painted the Supreme Sorceress cat, the Comet of Casandora (Heavens) token. I also had to repair a wing to the manticore after last battle and suddenly... conversion mind turned on.

So the manticore of Lord Drakon got a little brother !

The Bloodwrack Shrine got damaged while transporting, but will fix that later.
In the meantime something completely different than what I painted before.

The 'naughty daughter'

Very stylish look to your army, Executioner body on cold one looks seamless and I dig the dark rider banner too.

Very cohesive look throughout the army.

For all the mounts I use only three colours

- abaddon black
- adeptus battleggrey
- skull white.



With the dark bases I try to give some contrast to the white and neutral colours, adding the grass to make them come alive.

With the army colour of red using;

- base: scab red
- highlight: blood red
- cloth highlight: flash gitz yellow

I also try to maintain a second constrasting colour besides the whites / grey / silver tones. After the first banner I am not sure anymore if I should do the banners red, white or black.

With the sisters of slaughter (cold one knights on foot) I'm going to try to paint as elite of the elite by using gold instead silver. The Hydra will be painted like the Cold One and I was thinking to paint the manticore like a white tiger instead of a lion, to continue the cohesive look.
